Dog rules

–Under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998, section 13(1): "A dog (other than a dog being exhibited at a show or being trialled or trained for showing) that is in a public place must be under the effective control of some competent person by means of an adequate chain, cord or leash that is attached to the dog and that is being held by (or secured to) the person." Blue Mountains City Council publishes a list of 14 designated off-leash dog areas in the Blue Mountains; this venue is not on that list, so the NSW Act's leash requirement applies. (Source: NSW Companion Animals Act 1998 s.13, legislation.nsw.gov.au; BMCC "Off-Leash Dog Areas in the Blue Mountains" page, bmcc.nsw.gov.au/dogs.)

For a small garden, I really enjoyed visiting! There’s not too much that really wowed me but I did love the waterfall (grotto) but I wish there was more access to it. It was exciting to see some wildlife, such as some ducks resting in shade! My highlight was the grotto & the greenery, definitely a good garden to visit if you enjoy walking & exploring! Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy the tearooms. I had been looking forward to visiting them but the environment was very intimidating, I’d like to visit again on a quieter day.

If you prefer or want to experience a ticketed walk of nature then this place fits the mould. Heritage architecture surrounded by beautiful garden and glades it’s a treat for art lovers. It’s maintained by national trust and operated by volunteers so access to tea rooms and house tour is not available on a Wednesday/Thursday however you’ll still be able to access other parts of the garden. (would suggest to keep the entry fee at a subsidised price for these days though)

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this gorgeous Art Deco house and gardens in Leura today. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday each week. and the tea room is open from Thursday to Sunday. You need to allow a couple of hours to wander around the extensive gardens, designed by Paul Sorensen, and the beautifully preserved house.
