Yes it was dog friendly but that's about all it had going for it. The sand sticks to you and is dark yellow, the ocean itself is rough (and that's on a calm day) and there is nowhere to wash your feet off at the carpark. There were tiny spiders that live in the sand and small little bugs that were all over our belongings. There was also no dog poo bags. However that doesn't excuse those that didn't bring their own. There was dog poo all along the track leading onto the beach, on a hot day the smell turns you straight off - if you're a dog owner PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOG AND STOP BEING SO LAZY!!!! Yes it eventually decomposes but the public will have to look at it and smell it for 2-12 months before it does so , so just pick it up and stop being so irresponsible!! We've been to many beaches around Australia and this was probably the worst.
We had an awesome day out at Bombo Beach Reserve for a casual barbecue, and it absolutely delivered. The reserve is tucked just behind the beach, offering stunning ocean views while still having enough green space to relax, cook, and kick a ball around. Being so close to the beach was a huge bonus. After eating, we walked straight over to the sand, and to the wet our feet in the cold waters. It’s not too crowded either, especially compared to some other beaches on the South Coast, so it still feels a bit like a hidden gem. Overall, Bombo Beach Reserve was a fantastic spot for a chill evening BBQ with friends and family. Highly recommend it if you're after something coastal, scenic, and low-key.
Google maps took us to the wrong spot a couple of times but was lovely when we got there great spot to watch the whales breach
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
