What people say
Our group enjoyed lunch at The Garden Berry, complete with the bottomless spritz package. The food and drinks were delicious, and the service was both speedy and genuinely lovely. We had a beautiful afternoon and will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
The food itself was fantastic, we got the baked Spanish eggs and the Turkish cup it which were cooked perfectly and excellent portions. What can’t be said and was extremely disappointing for the both of us was the service and atmosphere. We felt incredibly uncomfortable on arrival with little things that were being done for other customers. We were not provided with any table water (despite the fact that others arrived later and were given the same) and table service to order for us was significantly delayed, again despite the fact that other people had arrived later and were ordered almost immediately. Even when I put my hand up that we were ready, the waitress was very cold towards our order. I acknowledge that today was extremely busy and could tell that they were stressed, however it left us feeling very uncomfortable and singled out at the end.
We stopped at The Garden purely to grab a quick coffee on our way to Sydney — about 10 minutes before their 3pm closing time, with zero expectations. What we found instead was a total delight. Despite it being close to closing, the staff were warm, attentive, and welcoming. They still offered us a table, checked if we wanted anything before the kitchen closed, and made us feel genuinely welcome — not rushed. The café itself is lovely, with a calm, creative feel, and they also host art exhibitions, which adds a beautiful touch. Highlights: • Oat matcha (huge bonus 🙌) • An excellent hot chocolate for our son • Scones that were so good we ordered a second serve • And then the best surprise — they packed us a bag of freshly baked scones to take away, explaining they share them at the end of the day rather than waste them. Absolute joy. The only downside? It’s about seven hours from where we live, otherwise we’d be there far too often. If you’re travelling Melbourne ↔ Sydney, this is an absolute must-stop. Coffee, matcha, scones, art, and genuinely kind service — the kind of place that turns a quick stop into a memorable moment. Well done, team 👏
Visited twice 2 months ago, quite a big cafe. Service was friendly & food & drinks didn’t take too long to be served. Highlight was the orange cake with yoghurt. Best I’ve had in a while.. The kid’s pasta with Ragu had some bones between the meat. So, be extra careful when consuming this dish.. Spanish eggs dish was full of flavor but eggs were overcooked.
Underwhelming visit. The Garden Restaurant in Berry left us disappointed with its limited food options and surprisingly small portions. While the setting was pleasant, the menu lacked variety and didn’t quite deliver on value. Not what we expected from a spot with such a charming name.
