Wentworth Park is a large open park in Glebe with off-leash access at all times, except on the sports field during games and in the BBQ and playground areas. The park has mature shade trees, drinking water, BBQ facilities, toilets, and parking. It's a well-known local spot — the scale of the park means there's always room to spread out, even when it's busy. It works well for dogs that benefit from a big, open run.

Dog rules

There is complex repairs emergency work involving leaking seweragepipes.Dog friendly Park for my dog to socialise ! It has good and clean free BBQ facilitiesWentworth Park in Ultimo, Sydney, is a significant urban space known for its rich industrial history and its current role as a community sports and recreation area. Wentworth Park Located adjacent to Blackwattle Bay, Wentworth Park is a large parkland area that has undergone significant transformation over the years. It sits in the inner-city suburb of Ultimo, bordered by Pyrmont and Glebe. The park’s history is deeply rooted in the industrial past of Sydney, with fragments of its previous uses, such as abattoirs, incinerators, and wool stores, still forming part of its historical narrative (Woodhead, 2021; Fraser, 2013). The area, including the neighbouring Pyrmont and Blackwattle Bay, was in a state of dereliction before urban renewal efforts began to transform it from a former industrial hub to a more contemporary urban landscape (Fraser, 2013). 🏟️ Key Facilities and Features Wentworth Park offers a variety of features, notably revolving around sports and public use: Sports Fields: The park is known to house sports fields, which feature water markers, suggesting an intersection with the site's history and its permeable surface of mud and water (Woodhead, 2021). Greyhound Amphitheatre: A notable facility within the park's boundaries is the Greyhound Amphitheatre (Woodhead, 2021). Public Access: The area offers connections to the waterfront, such as the Blackwattle RiverWalk Main Entrance, and features like workout equipment and a viaduct station (Woodhead, 2021). Historical Fragments: The park's surface and the Blackwattle Bay area conceal remnants of its industrial past, including coal loaders and remnants of the old Sydney Depot and Ultimo quarry, which are integrated into the site's historical record (Woodhead, 2021; Fraser, 2013).

Wentworth Park in Glebe is a wonderful spot for both relaxing and enjoying outdoor activities. The large open areas are perfect for picnics, jogging, and playing sports. There are also walking paths with nice views of the harbor, and it's a very welcoming place for dog owners. The park offers sports facilities like basketball courts and soccer fields, plus it’s home to a greyhound racing track. While the park is generally well-kept, the playground and restrooms could use a bit of attention. Overall, it’s a great place for a mix of relaxation and outdoor fun!

Wentworth Park has many uses, but it specializes in big wide green lawns that are used for sports activities. There are other public events that take place periodically. Under a train viaduct that crosses through the park, there are a few homeless persons who have pitched tents and live there, but they are harmless. There's also an arena where greyhound races take place.
