East Maitland Dog Off-Leash Area is a simple, open grassed area for off-leash exercise. It is unfenced and sits close to surrounding roads, so it suits dogs with reliable recall that stay close. It is a basic space rather than a full dog park — a handy spot for a quick off-leash run for steady dogs. Keep an eye on the boundaries, as the area is open.
Designated off-leash dog exercise area (unfenced). Dog owners must pick up and dispose of dog waste. Dogs must wear a collar and identification tag. Dogs must remain under effective control. Restricted or dangerous dogs are not permitted. Source: Maitland City Council – Off leash dog areas (maitland.nsw.gov.au/residents/pets-animals/off-leash-dog-areas)
This is not a dog park, it is essentially an empty block of land with no fencing, dangerously close to 3 roads and the grass is overgrown
Don't bother wasting your time taking your dog to this pathetic excuse for a leash free area. There's no garbage bin, no water, and now a large chunk of it is being used as a construction site!
What an insult of an off leash area. An overgrown area of bush with about 50 m2 of short grass bordered on three sides by road. Only useful if you have a lazy old dog that wants to meander and sniff.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
