White's Creek Wetland is a park in Annandale. Dogs are generally allowed on a lead in NSW public parks unless signs say otherwise — but the rules here aren't confirmed, so check local signage before visiting.

Dog rules

Inner West Council's "Dog exercise areas" page states: "By law, dogs must be on a leash in public places unless the area is a designated off-leash area." Inner West Council publishes a list of gazetted off-leash areas; this venue is not on that list, so the council's general on-leash rule applies under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. Nice little section next to the storm water cannal with a re-creation of native wetlands. Fun area to spot turtles, small fish, lizards and frogs along the pathway especially for young children but adult supervision is required. Some signage explaining the ecology and quite serene except when someone comes alone the path. Place needs seating and quiet spots to be fully enjoyed. Very much a small pocket bounded by weeds and an open drain and parkland. Would be nice if they could extend it.

Such a great resource. The weed grows so fast that a council employee has to net them out every second day. Plenty of turtles and we saw an orange insect sting, kill and eat a large spider. Erk!

Wonderful to see a greenspace created in the urban environment and such diversity bring encouraged. There are well signposted viewing points. There is some nifty engineering in the way this has been achieved. Take care in wet weather or shortly after - party of the path does flood. Also look at the adjacent park to see a permaculture food forest, an historic aqueduct, and a community garden. On the other side there is the community nursery and Wildlife rescue centre. So much to see.
