Tumbalong Park is an open green space at Darling Harbour in the heart of the city, with lawns, a playground and a cafe. Dogs are welcome on-leash, kept clear of playgrounds and sports courts, as off-leash is limited to the City of Sydney's designated parks. It is a handy, lively spot for a walk in town. A central on-leash park for an easy stroll.
Dogs are welcome in this park but must be kept on a leash at all times. Off-leash exercise is only permitted in the City of Sydney's 50 designated off-leash parks — this is not one of them. Dogs are prohibited from playgrounds, sports courts, and enclosed sports ovals. Please pick up after your dog and use bins where provided. Really amazing park for kids. Playground is great both for younger and olders kids and the water play is fun. Adults can enjoy lots of shaded comfy seats and can grab a coffee from the many cafes / restaurants nearby. We went there twice during our stay in Sydney and really enjoyed it
Tumbalong Park Tumbalong Park is a beautiful open space right in the heart of Darling Harbour, offering both relaxation and convenience. The park itself is spacious and well-kept, with easy access to the waterfront and plenty of shaded areas to sit, stroll, or simply enjoy the city atmosphere. It’s especially lovely for families, picnics, and community events, yet it never feels far from the energy of the harbour. What makes Tumbalong Park stand out is how seamlessly it connects to everything around it. Within just a short walk, you’ll find countless restaurants, cafés, and bars, along with entertainment options like the IMAX theatre, shopping malls, and family-friendly attractions. Living in this area, you’d almost never need to leave—you have everything from open green space to dining, movies, and shopping all in one place. It’s a rare combination of urban convenience and natural beauty, making Tumbalong Park a true gem in Sydney’s city landscape.
I visited Tumbalong Park during the Vivid Sydney festival, and it was amazing to walk around at night. The lights, music, and lively atmosphere made the whole area feel magical. Plenty of open space to enjoy the view and take photos. A perfect spot to enjoy the festival vibes and relax in the city!🌃
Our 1st day to Sydney Tour. What a good spacious park for families and kids in the CBD. Love their setup with public facilities nearby. Also, public transport like the light rail are very accessable.
This is a large area and some of it set up for events. However the main attraction for the kids was the large playground. Kids wanted to keep coming back. Has a big water play area, kids also like the fountains and stepping stones that are in the section near convention centre. Playground also has lots of climbing nets, bridges, slides swings and a flying fox.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
