What people say
14/12/25 - 3.5 stars Apparently a pretty famous and popular café in Surry Hills featuring minimalistic decor and friendly staff. Food is ok with prices probably in line with what you expect from city / eastern suburbs, so, in essence, pretty poor value. Was not overly impressed by either dish but weren't terrible. Dirty bird Flavour: S, 8/10. Fried chicken itself was well seasoned and tasty, but, there was way too much sauce. Texture: A, 7/10. Again, chicken was crispy but was basically dripping with sauce. Value: B, 6/10. $24. Not Reuben Flavour: S, 8/10. Similar story. Too many things going on in the background which degraded the brisket. Texture: B, 6/10. Got really soggy quickly 👎 Value: B, 6/10. $26.
This cafe has an urban industrial decor, with a garage door back. It doesn't have a lot of seats, so there is generally a very long wait. However, staff are very friendly, and would try their best to accommodate a large group. Staff may also take your number down, so you could walk around the block instead of waiting in a line. Good food and coffee. The baked eggs was really good, the flavour has a lot of complexity from the use of herbs. Quick service.
Not much to complain about here! Delicious food, delicious coffee and absolutely delightful staff. Price is so reasonable too! Definitely worth a visit if in the area to go for a coffee, a light breakfast or a full brunch. Avo toast 8.5/10 Friends had the toastadas and the ‘shakshuka’ and they both enjoyed. Cool interior and inside vibe too, it is dark though as it’s inside a garage.
Lovely food to start the morning. We didn't have to wait long to get a seat, and the servers were polite and helpful. The shakshuka was the highlight for us, which was bursting with flavour and was tangy and sour enough. The burger was nice but not outstanding nor unique, with a portion size on the smaller side given the price. Overall a good experience!
Staff are really sweet and nice here, definitely not judgemental at all. They treat every customer with the same respect. Had to wait a bit for a friend but the British girl was so lovely and accomodating to let me sit and wait inside. The other staff were super sweet too. The food and coffee tasted great, a bit steep with the Saturday surcharge but the atmosphere and everything else made up for it. I wish there were more genuine cafes like this around City. Staff seem very happy too, can tell the owner is doing an amazing job :)
