Boat Harbour Beach is a beach in Bendalong. Dog access at NSW beaches varies by council and is often restricted by zone or time of day — the rules here aren't confirmed, so check the local council's beach dog rules before visiting.

Dog rules

Shoalhaven City Council's Dog Off-Leash Guide states: "Dogs in the Shoalhaven are required to be 'on leash'" unless in a designated off-leash area or dog-prohibited area. This venue is not named in Shoalhaven's off-leash list or prohibited list under D23/519887 (MIN23.740, December 2023), so the council-wide default on-leash rule applies. Dogs must be under the effective control of a competent person at all times under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. (Source: Shoalhaven City Council, MIN23.740 / D23/519887.)

Another gem in this area, every beach and attraction is better than the last one. This little beach and boat ramp is very welcoming with easy access by car and very decent toilets, there's plenty of space on the sand, some of it shaded and plenty of space on the grass some of that is also shaded. The main event is the stingrays that visit the beach and are very tame and can be hand fed. They do attract a crowd and you need to be careful because not everyone is blessed with intelligence around wild animals, there were kids grabbing the stingrays from their rear and adults grabbing them by their mouths and trying to control them, this behaviour puts everyone at risk. The beach is also nice for a swim with white sands and usually very calm waters and beautiful views.

What an amazing experience to be able to get so close to stingrays! It was definitely worth the 3.5h drive from Sydney. You won’t be disappointed if you’re coming here to see stingrays up close and interact with them. But just to be safe, remember to bring or buy fish bait from the nearby shop, as the stingrays usually won’t come close to the shore unless people are feeding them. Also, remember that a stingray’s mouth is underneath its body, so make sure you’re feeding the fish in the right spot. Otherwise they might get a bit grumpy and bump into you or splash water everywhere! Fun fact: when you pet the smaller stingrays, you wipe the sand off their backs and leave little hand marks, which is hilarious.

I came to this beach specifically to see the stingrays, and I wasn’t disappointed. We arrived at low tide around 12:30 pm and they were definitely there. It’s very easy to see them because they come close to the shore, and with the crystal-clear water you can watch them really well. If you want to attract them a bit more, you can walk up to the campground on the opposite side of the beach. At the reception, they sell bait that you can use to feed the stingrays. A really good experience overall, and definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

Today I came to see the stingrays. At the beach, I met three handsome men. They were butchering a tuna and even gave me a bag of tuna🤩🤩 Later, I went into town to find a restaurant to handle it for me. The staff told me my tuna was worth 50 dollars’ . I had it sliced into sashimi and finished it. Thanks again to you all, and also thanks for what seemed like feeding the stingrays there, so that we could enjoy watching the wild animals.
