We were looking for a baby-friendly beach for our 5-month-old’s first beach experience and Torakina was spot on. The water was calm and shallow which made us feel really at ease, and it was lovely to walk up and see so many families and kids of all ages enjoying the spot. Parking is limited close to the beach but people seem to come and go pretty regularly so we managed to get a spot after a short wait. The water was a bit brown the day we went, likely from rain the night before, but it didn’t take away from the experience. Overall a great beach for young families—relaxed, safe and a beautiful place for little ones to enjoy the ocean for the first time.

Really nice beach. We parked in town and then walked here (parking at the beach is very limited). The advantage not parking in town is taking in the scenery along the way. The beach is very calm, but make sure you don't get too close to the bar, as the waters are rapid there.

Yeah this beach is sweet, lots of parking, walking distance from the pub, good surf and not bad fishing. Went down on a fairly stormy day but still had a swell time (see what I did there, I'm actually talking about a beach and used the word swell) Stop reading this and go check it yourself.

Absolutely beautiful. No crowds - part of why I loved it. You can walk for miles and only pass a handful of people. Rough surf, but there is a calm swimming spot on the other side of the jetty if desired. There are generally more people over there, though.

It is an average beach, and I have enjoyed it multiple times. I would have given it a higher rating if my daughter Elizabeth didn’t slip and scratch her whole stomach up on oysters. She is fine, but it was not a nice experience when it happened.
