Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in public spaces. Dogs are not allowed within 10 metres of children's play areas or areas where food is prepared or eaten (except outdoor dining areas of cafes/restaurants that allow dogs). This reserve honours D H Lawrence, author of the 1923 novel Kangaroo. He lived close by for a time in 1922 and the characters in his novel rented a house on the beach. The novel is semi biographical.
One of my favorite spots in Thirroul - sitting on a park bench, reading a book and occasionally looking out at the wildness of the ocean. On a good day, you can have it to yourself for ages before anyone else turns up. As such, I would suggest caution for women on their own, unfortunately.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
