McCauley's Beach is an off-leash dog beach with a walking track that passes through land with Aboriginal historical significance. The beach is sandy with good swimming access, and the off-leash freedom extends the full length of the beach at all times. It connects to Sandon Point further along the coast, so you can extend the walk if your dog has more energy to burn. Parking is available nearby.
Off-leash green zone beach. Dogs are allowed off-leash at all times. Dogs must be under effective control of a person aged 16+ who can control the dog by voice or other means. Dogs must not attack wildlife including birds. Owners must carry bags and clean up after their dogs. Restricted breed and declared dangerous dogs are not allowed. Dogs must stay on a leash going to and from the beach, including all pathways. Source: Wollongong City Council – Dog Beaches and Parks (wollongong.nsw.gov.au/places/dog-beaches-and-parks)
Lovely beach which is also dog friendly. It also has a walking track through aboriginal historic land. True testament to local Australian history.
Great beach to bring your dog for a swim
A nice open beach that is open to dogs, on leash and off leash at certain times. Dogs are allowed off leash always on the main section of the beach. Able to be assessed from Sandon Point or Thirroul. No facilities besides basic outdoor shower. No toilets and not patrolled. Nearest patrolled beaches are Thirroul to the north or Sandon Point Beach to the south.
Lovely off leash beach. There's a little stream for dogs to learn to swim, the water is very choppy. Street parking off Hamilton Road or along Sandon Drive. The only downside is that there are no toilets nearby
How awesome is this beach! Would have to say one of my favs. Shame there is no toilets however. But so well kept both beach and shore.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
