What people say
I do not recommend this place. The food was very basic, not particularly good, and extremely overpriced for the quality. However, the worst part was the service, which was absolutely awful. We had a reservation and gave our first name upon arrival. The welcome was cold, with no smile and no greeting. The young woman at the entrance then spoke to an elderly lady in a very rude way, saying: “Reservation for XXX, whatever.” If she couldn’t remember the name, she could have simply turned around and asked politely instead of saying “whatever” in such a disrespectful way, especially while we were standing right there. Throughout the entire experience, there was not a single smile or hello from the staff. The person who brought our food almost threw the plates onto the table, making us feel extremely uncomfortable and disrespected. Overall: disappointing food, unjustified prices, and absolutely horrible service. I would not recommend this place at all.
Stunning location. The food was delicious. Views of 180 degrees over Port Stephen’s and surrounding area. View to right, from outdoor cafe seating, over looks Shoal Bay. Based aside the Marine Rescue Base and many volunteers involved in keeping this site going. Make a donation while you are there. In the upper car park there are about 20 car park spaces (at a guess)Otherwise you mark below and walk up but quite a climb. Would 100% recommend.
We enjoyed sitting overlooking the sea while having a scone. I recommend trying a scone from here. The scone was large and moist on the inside with a side jam and cream. Rainbow lorikeets were in the trees.
The restaurant offers a spectacular view and is easily accessible, which makes it a great spot to visit. The food was decent — not exceptional, but enjoyable enough. However, one major disappointment was that although the advertised closing time was 2:30 PM, the kitchen closed at 2:00 PM without any notice. This caught us off guard when we tried to place one more order. It would be great if the management ensures the staff adhere to the stated hours or at least inform guests in advance. Many people visit from far and wide, and such inconsistencies can leave a poor impression.
Last school holidays we went there and couldn’t get a table as they were fully booked out, recent school holidays we called and booked a table two days earlier and we were able to get in! The cafe is a great place to enjoy the sun! Make sure you check out their trading hours. The food and service was amazing! We also tried their specialty scones with fresh cream and jam! It was delicious! Peaceful but tiny and cozy place to be!
