Vale of Ah Reserve Fenced Dog Park has three separate fenced areas sized for different dogs — small, medium, and large breeds each get their own space. Waste bags are provided and there's parking nearby. One thing to note — a handful of visitors have reported encounters with uncontrolled dogs after dark, so daytime visits are recommended. During the day, it's a well-structured park with good separation.
Council-designated off-leash area at Vale of Ah Reserve. Dogs may exercise off-leash under the effective control of a competent person. Dogs must remain on-leash within 10 metres of food preparation areas, playgrounds and sports fields.
NIGHT-TIME DOG WALKERS PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS❗️ We visited this dog park after dark with our German Shepherd and had a very frightening experience. A very large, highly aggressive dog (similar in appearance to a Turkish Kangal) suddenly charged toward us, barking intensely. Thankfully there was a fence between us, otherwise our dog could have been seriously injured. This dog has an extremely large shoulder height and body size, with strong territorial behaviour and visible aggression. In low-visibility conditions at night, this creates a serious safety risk for other dogs and their owners, especially if you are unfamiliar with the situation. I strongly encourage anyone walking their dogs here after sunset to stay alert, keep distance, and be prepared for unexpected encounters. A single incident like this could lead to irreversible injury. Please take care.
3 fenced dog off-leash reserve for different sizes of dogs to run and freely make friend.
Bring your furry friend down and meet other dogs for them to run around and have fun also come and meet the other dogs parents we are all friendly to sit around and have a chat.
Vale of Ah is great if all you want to do is allow your dog to frolic in a large, fenced area. Plenty of parking (except when there are sports carnivals using the adjacent sports fields). However, the land does not drain well, meaning that if you don’t want your pup covered in mud then you may want to leave it for a few days after rain before you go there. With all that in mind, it’s still my “go-to” for off-leash activity.
Lovely people and dogs. Only the odd incident but given the size of the park and the many that go, it's much safer than other parks. Council should add poo bags and more seating though.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
