Come here often. Love this pub, great service. Food is great also. Highly recommend.
We were there for a function upstairs. The space wasn't really suited for a function of our size, but that's not the pub's fault. Part way through we had to vacate part of the area that we were allocated, so we shared with another booking, and that was a problem. The pub has lots of character both upstairs and downstairs and this was part of the attraction. The upstairs space was a bit like a rabbit warren and it was difficult to get to the bar. There were two rooms provided where smaller groups could 'escape' to and this was an excellent idea, and were well used. The best and the worst. The best was the staff, both upstairs and down. Friendly, helpful and efficient. They really went above and beyond to make our party welcome and the best that it could be. The worst was the food. Finger food that is tasty and easy to eat while standing around drinking and chatting can be difficult. Pizza lends itself readily to this kind of event but it can be imaginative or boring. Unfortunately this was boring, and unimaginative, as was the rest of the offerings. I don't know what the food was like from the regular menu. Our event was catered.
We went for a quick meal Sunday night at this formerly good establishment. We've had many meals there over the last 15 years but left disappointed last night after a pretty bad pub meal that cost $85 with drinks. The fish n chips looked ok on arrival but turned out to be sub par. The batter was a weird yellow colour, way too thick which made it raw on the inside. The fish was fine but not enough of it. The two small skinny pieces where covered in so much batter that it wasn't apparent when the meal first arrived. The chips were soggy and mostly cold. It felt like I got left overs. I took most of the batter off which took up half the plate in the end. For $28 it just wasn't good enough. My partner had the Chicken Parmigiana which was bland and not good quality at all, the mash was luke warm. I'm sorry to say it was worse than airline food. The 250ml wine by the glass was expensive at $18 and a tiny beer was 9 bucks. The service is ok and friendly but clearly the cooks are not good at what they do. We used to love that place. It's off that list now.
Great venue for a drink or have a work party arranged here, meter pizzas is the highlight with a 7 day preorder required. Great spot for locals to grab some pub food or catch up with a couple of mates.
Lovely pub in Paddington. Closes early on a Sunday! Great Guinness and food was had here. Exterior of the pub has a lot of charm and interior was a classic pub, nice pool tables too. Staff were fantastic, some heavy pours on the wines 🤪 Parmi was awesome, steak was also awesome. Sunday roast was acceptable, meat was slightly tough but it was the end of the day so I will excuse it.
