What people say
The Black is an absolute standout in Sydney. As someone who dines out regularly around the city, I can honestly say this place is exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the service was incredible and set the tone for a fantastic evening. A special mention to Soniya, who was amazing from the moment we stepped through the door. She’s absolutely fabulous and made us feel so welcome right away. Tudor was just as impressive serving us at the table, attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the entire experience and so knowledgeable!! They are both amazing staff!! It was a special occasion for me that night and these two made the occasion even more special which I will never forget. The service truly made the night, and it’s rare to find a team that makes you feel this comfortable and well looked after. I can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend, definitely one of the standout dining experiences in Sydney.
Enjoyed the early bird special (entrees, main, side + sauce). Great value for money. Recommend splurging on the wagyu flank which was very tender. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Great drinks menu
Our new wave go to place for Sunday lunch. Been here for over 5 times and decided to post now as the meals are thoroughly well seasoned.. They have affordable 1 or 2 course set meals. Great for date nights as well. Great selection of wines!
Came here for a family Xmas dinner. The waiter was super friendly and helpful. Portion sizes of all dishes were generous. We ordered a grilled chicken kids meal- the size was massive and I believe it is suitable for an adult. Beef tartare and spanner crab as starters. Angus steak and fish of the day (NZ flounder) with a side of fries and salad. All menu items exceeded expectations and were super delicious. Highly recommend the beef tartare!
Sydney Rock Oyster with cucumber vinaigrette, sesame at $7 each so refreshing and the best way to start a good meal. we also ordered a WA Scallop with sesame yoghurt, sugar snap and chicken skin at $11 to share. the Rump Cap MBS9+ at $92 was so rich and delightful, we asked for medium rare even though the chef recommended medium but we did love it at medium rare, so go for what you like. perfectly seasoned and cooked. to share we had the Moreton Bay Bug with kimchi paella, bone marrow, and zucchini flower at $62, amazing value for the huge portion of bug and the bone marrow was a fab fatty addition to bring some richness to the plate. for sides (three to share was $36) we got the Rigatoni alla Vodka which was the perfect size for such a heavy pasta, but the flavours were so good, really loved the addition of prosciutto to the top. Broccolini with garlic is a classic and Chips with Grana Padano, rosemary salt can't go wrong. everything we had was so so good, I can't wait to go back!!
