Bear Brasserie is a cafe in Westmead. We don't yet have enough signals to confirm whether dogs are allowed. It's best to check with the venue before visiting with your dog. Just 600m away, Burlington Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park is a great nearby park for a walk with your dog.
Had the most horrific experience here on Friday 28 November 2025. Visited this cafe along with my daughter after a long day of appointments and hoping to have a nice; quiet and yummy lunch but it turned out to be one of the worst experience I’ve had especially in terms of customer service. The waiter (with a wrist guard) clearly looked unhappy to be working there, liked he just doesn’t give a damn to all the customers. I asked him politely if there was an empty table available for me and my daughter and he replied rude and abruptly “Can’t you see the reserved sign on the tables?”. He walked off after making that comment disregarding us completely. I was absolutely stunned at his rude demeanor and attitude. We finally got a table and he came to clean it up and I asked if he could take our orders, no response but instead he sent a waitress to come take our order, she was slightly more polite than him though but still I find that every single staff at this cafe looks unhappy or just doesn’t want to be there. I also witnessed this same waiter, rolling his eyes at a customer because the customer had swapped seats without informing them and when the order arrived it got all messed up. I will never ever come here again not only because the food was horrible but the customer service here needs an ultimate revamp. I ordered waffles with fried chicken - order arrived with soggy waffles which has not been cook right through and looks like even the kitchen staff is not happy as it looked like they just slapped the chicken onto the waffle with their eyes closed. Look at the picture u can already tell—where’s the waffle and where’s the chicken ??? Sweet potato fries was soggy and strawberry milkshake was just as bland (no ice and it was actually warm) and horrible that even my daughter didn’t want to drink it. The only staff there who was friendly was the lovely lady at the counter who asked me how was the experience today and I just said it wasn’t good but didn’t bother to elaborate at that time because I was already so mentally tired and having to face all these drama at a cafe when all we wanted was some comfort food. Horrible horrible experience. Won’t come back again unless this place gets a complete revamp of its staff and food service!!!
Probably the best food in Westmead, you should come here if you’re at the hospital, or not.
The food and coffee here is sensational, it's seriously the best Cafe I have experienced at any Hospital Cafe. It's lovely to enjoy a great much needed coffee and a decent feed while you're little one is in the hand hands of medical professionals, or even if your get to take them for a sneaky milkshake and treat while on the ward. We travel down from FNQ regularly and having a delicious much needed feed and coffee is so appreciated, it's one of our highlights on our regular stays here.
I have been here many times when my daughter has been in hospital, never a bad experience with the food. It always tastes great, service is always friendly and prompt. Highly recommend them.
This is a place I have been observing for some years now, but only actually became a customer today because where we usually eat was closed. The service is friendly and fast, table service. The meals are delicious and fresh. The coffe is fantastic, as in top 1% of coffee I have tasted, not that I am a connoisseur, but I do like my coffe as ordered whisk is hot and strong. Something for everyone, vegetarian people and carnivores too and obviously a reasonable kids menu as it is situated in the childrens hospital at Westmead. Clean eating areas, well stocked tables with rock salt and cracked pepper. Plenty of sugar and sweeteners. Table water not a problem and I even saw a customer get served ice with her table water. Accomodating and friendly business. Lots of cakes too and fresh juices. Eat in or take away.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
