Sydney Park covers a huge stretch of Alexandria with rolling hills, walking paths, and wide open grass — the kind of park where you can walk for 30 minutes and still find a new corner. It's one of the bigger off-leash parks in the inner city, and the variety of terrain gives dogs different sightlines, surfaces, and things to investigate as you move through. The shallow dog pond is the standout — a purpose-built wading area for dogs to splash in safely.
The wetlands area is fenced off and dogs aren't permitted inside it, but the paths around it make for a good longer loop. The park gets busy, especially on weekends, and parking is a known pain point — street spots fill early and the car park near Sydney Park Road is small. After rain, some lower sections get muddy and drain poorly. There's a cafe on site (dog-friendly, with treats), toilets, bins, and BBQs scattered through the park.
Dog off-leash allowed at all times. Extensive off-leash areas with a paddling pool for dogs. Prohibited areas: Wetlands, Alan Davidson Oval, Sydney Park Cycling Centre, playground, barbecue areas. Listed in the City of Sydney dog off-leash areas program.
A large, beautiful park that’s truly a paradise for dog lovers! There are plenty of open spaces where dogs can run and play freely. You’ll see lots of adorable dogs and happy owners enjoying the outdoors together. It’s a great spot to take your furry friend for some exercise and socializing. Clean, safe, and welcoming — perfect for a relaxing day out with your pet!
Located at 416 Sydney Park Road, Alexandria, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. A great park which is very well maintained and a wonderful place to walk around. It’s very dog friendly even at the cafe which has treats for dogs 🐕 but there’s not many toilets which means we had to queue for a while. This was not thought out enough when designing the park. It’s wheelchair accessible which was great for our group as we had a couple of people in wheelchairs. There’s a wonderful children play area and skateboarding area. The big lakes are really pretty and nice to walk around. Thumbs Up! 👍👍👍👍
Can never get parking, checking all the street parking and car parks and surrounding streets lead me to park illegally every time. Drainage is poor around many areas of the park and is awfully muddy after rain. Very few seats, picnic tables, and benches - needs many more for the number of visitors. Hundreds of off leash dogs throughout the park, I found myself very nervous as I am with my infant baby.
Sydney Park has a massive open space, bike paths and running paths. It's perfect if you want to take a few pictures, look down to the city, have a picnic or let your dog free.
What a great spot!! Incredible, what a beautiful place, it's huge... very well maintained, clean... very peaceful, especially for children, it has lagoons, walkways for adventures for the little ones, lots of space to walk, use bikes, scooters.... it's impressive!!! LOVE IT!!!
