MJ Hayes Reserve is a park in Newtown with plenty of shade. Dog access isn't confirmed, but it may be worth checking.

Dog rules

Inner West Council's "Dog exercise areas" page states: "By law, dogs must be on a leash in public places unless the area is a designated off-leash area." Inner West Council publishes a list of gazetted off-leash areas; this venue is not on that list, so the council's general on-leash rule applies under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. It’s actually a nice small park especially for a short play. Shaded in summer and clean when I’ve been there.

This park doesnt deserve the low ratings, my 3yo had a blast, doing the climbs. unfortunatley i had do lots of scrubbing and cleaning of the rockwall. but the rubber floor was pretty clean and the equipment was unique.

Old park that lacks maintenance. Most people just use space to smoke and there is no lighting at night. I didn't feel safe going there even during the day
