The designated area around the sporting ground and north of The Terrace is off-leash at any time of the day. Dogs are not permitted within 10 metres of the playground or inside the fenced sporting ground perimeter, and must be on a leash elsewhere.
Great park. There's a large oval with cricket pitch, and batting cages, a public toilet that's usually unlocked, Bins and free doggy bags. There's plenty of shade around the park, especially on the walking track around it. There's a children's playground on one side across the small street and a lovely little beach with views of the Harbour bridge. Dogs allowed everywhere, unleashed except the oval. The water can get dirty, just depends on weather and clean up efforts of the locals, usually looks bad after heavy rain and at low tide.

It’s more than just a sports field; it's a slice of Sydney history with some of the best water views the Inner West has to offer.
It’s a great place to watch fireworks. I saw it recommended on Red Book. In the afternoon, we set out to watch the fireworks and there was still a spot. It's a bit difficult to park nearby. If you come here to watch the New Year's Eve fireworks, it is recommended to bring a power bank, picnic mat, umbrella, garbage bag, napkin, food and jacket.
The oval at Birchgrove. It looks really well maintained with plenty of facilities so it gets 5/5 for that alone. The oval also has a good view of the Harbour Bridge a very short walk from the main facilities. Nice and decently priced cafe are also close by.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
