We were welcomed back for a 2nd year’s birthday celebration for our dogs and what a party it was. Weather was windy which allowed for the dogs to not bother any people and we were warmly protected by the marquee. The staff at The Balmain Hotel were accommodating helpful and even joined the celebrations for photos. Food was delicious and a great day/event.
Awful experience to start off with. Walked inside for a booking said hello to who I assumed to be the manager walking past me and she looked at me and ignored me. When one of my colleagues asked her about the booking she just told him to go outside and look for it. I'm not sure what her issue was as she just lethargically says "next" when you're at the bar and after ordering your beer she slides it under the tap and doesn't even look at you or say anything. She does not smile and was so rude to everyone there. She noticed kids mucking around breaking plants in the beer garden area and just stopped, stared and walked off. The food was very average. Buffalo wings are meant to be spicy, there was no spice whatsoever and it was the most average wings I've had in a long time. The customer service here needs to be SUBSTANTIALLY improved. Feedback: Workers need to be smiling, greet you, say some sort of "cheers" "have a good one" or something after ordering and actually take you to the table you booked. Really shocked at this level of service. The manager had very standout eyebrows and English was not her first language not sure where she is from but hope this describes the person and a discussion can be had.
This pub is a true jewel of Balmain. The staff are incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Locals treat this place like a family club, which says everything about it. If you want to see a great place that truly brings a neighbourhood together, this is a must-visit. And if you want to have a great time, enjoy good food, and meet new friends — definitely come here.
We held my son's 21st party for around 60 people in the Bora Bora Room in early September. It was a fantastic location. We had a designated area to ourselves, our own bar and bar person. The event was seamless to organise as Cassie and her team were easy to deal with and nothing was too much to request. Cassie also had great advice on how much to cater: the grazing platter was a particularly good and generous inclusion. We added some gluten free options in our selection. On the flip side there was no booking fee, and no minimum spend which is a real advantage when organising a large event. Location wise it was in the easy side of Balmain. We would highly recommend.
Went to this place today with my husband. I was surprised when i saw the bad reviews and it’s only 4.2 on Google. I think the place is great. Ordered beef ragu and I thought it was excellent. My husband ordered haloumi burger. He thinks it was excellent too. It’s hard to find bars that serves good food. So I was surprised they actually have nice food. This place has many different sections. The bars atmosphere is just like a normal bar. Packed because there’s a game. We sat outside where some people had a function. There was a guy playing nice music and singing. He actually has an amazing voice. Not sure if it was hired by the bar or the people at function hires him. So, Atmosphere was great for me. Definitely coming back to try different food.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
