Bald Rock Hotel has a simple outdoor area where dogs are welcome, with a cosy and upbeat atmosphere. It's a more straightforward setup without a lot of extra features, but works well for a casual visit.
Outdoor heaters help make the space usable in cooler weather.
Dogs allowed in outdoor areas.
Nice and cosy in the beer garden with the heaters in winter. Dogs allowed as well!
In the running as the best old pub experience in Balmain. Has been faithfully restored and is now redolent in all its sandstone old world glory. It has a cosy inside room and an outside area for smokers. Good for sport but its not intrusive with low noise but big screens. Serious pub food with classic dishes done well. Very popular trivia so need to book and not a bad idea to book weekend tables as well.
First visit in a couple of years. Still awesome. Didn’t book on a Friday night and it was full. All tables reserved. Sat out the front which was fine. Duck spring rolls and crab croquettes to start. Both delicious. Pie and a schnitzel as mains. Again great. Mushy peas delicious. Bar service great, moved very quickly. Meat raffle night which drew the crowds. Sensational.
Delicious roast dinner, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The only minor issue being the food arrived on cold plates meaning we ate it warm at best. Will return for sure..
We just had a great 2025 Boxing Day Lunch here at the BR Hotel. We stayed in Balmain and was an easy stroll from Beattie St through the old streets to this very 'UK' like sandstone architecture pub. It was cool day and they even had the fire going...definitely felt like we were in England. From the pics, you can see the meals were delicious and even match a member of our group!! Haha. I highly recommend this place for a nice beer/wine/meal.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
