Leura Cascades Picnic Area

Very expensive parking 3$/15min, poor map and description in how to find a walking track. Prince Henry Cliff walk not signposted. You just have to follow the cascade walk.. very confusing to know that from the map. But beautiful renovated, good toilets and free water!

An exhausting but worthwhile walk to the Falls. There are a lot of steps, some gently sloping, others steep, almost vertical. This is not a well-known sight with big bold sign posts. It's off to a discreet, fenced trail that's virtually hidden from the road. There is a patch of land for parking, enough for about 8-10 cars. But in order to get parking, you must come early. We were lucky to get a parking space, as by the time we returned (spent 2.5 hours in total to and back), cars were literally lined up at the side of the road where we parked and on the opposite side. There were others who wanted to park, but went back because there was no space to park. We met a hiker who was heading for the Falls as we were heading back to our car. We had left the Falls and was walking back for about 5-7 minutes when we met her. She was a little discouraged because she wasn't sure if she was ever going to get there. I told her it was only about 5 minutes away. And when I showed her the pictures I took, I could see her enthusiasm was renewed, and she was eager to get there.

Located in the Blue Mountains National Park, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 (Not far from Katoomba) The Leura Cascades features some of the most stunning lush greenery and cascading waterfalls over the native species of mosses and sandstone. There’s quite a steps along the walkways so it’s not accessible for wheelchairs 🦼 or those with mobility issues. The steps can also be slippery. The views from the various lookouts offers some of the spectacular views. These walks include the Fern Bower Circuit Walk which takes you down to Bridal Veil Falls and you also have the Prince Henry Cliff Walk which takes you to Echo Point. The forest is very dense with an abundance of native plants, flowers and stunning waterfalls and there’s plenty of lookouts to appreciate the stunning views. The walk down to the falls takes approximately 30 minutes and is a steady descent. The final lookout is gorgeous. There’s picnic areas, children’s play equipment and toilet 🚻 facilities available. The parking 🅿️ is limited and can get full fast and it’s free. This is a beautiful spot and I look forward to returning. I would definitely recommend. A big Thumbs Up from me! 👍👍👍👍

Leura is beautiful, charming and an interesting town with cute shops. Great for window shopping and a bit on the pricey side. Loved Leura though!
