Clifton Gardens Reserve is a well-regarded dog-friendly beach in Mosman with open sand and off-leash access for dogs and plenty of shade, with some time-based restrictions in place. There's calm, shallow water here too — great for puppies learning to swim. Just 350m away, Rawson Park Off-Leash Area is a nearby option to stop in after your walk.

Picture this: the sun rises, painting the sky in fiery hues as you arrive at the perfect spot to kickstart a family adventure. This place isn’t just "nice"—it's practically the ultimate playground for picnics, fishing, and soaking up nature's splendor. But here’s the kicker: parking. It’s a bit like a high-stakes game—arrive early or risk losing to the parking vultures. At $40 for the whole day (time of visit), it's worth it if you nail that coveted parking space. The grounds? Immaculate. You could practically eat off the grass—although, why would you when there’s a charming coffee shop just around the corner? The kids? Their laughter echoes through the park, proving this spot is a win for families. And your furry, four-legged pals? Tail-wagging approval all around—it’s a dog-friendly paradise. Whether you’re looking for quality time, peace of mind, or just an excuse to soak up the vibes, this gem of a park is absolutely worth the trip. Go early, park smart, and prepare for some wholesome family magic! 🐾🎣❤️

I saw many bush turkey's walking around!! Once again the bush turkeys were here and there was a lot of fishing 🎣 Clifton Gardens Reserve in Mosman is widely considered one of Sydney’s most versatile and family-friendly harbourside gems. Whether you’re looking for a safe swimming spot, a scenic picnic location, or a place to drop a line, it offers a high-quality experience with facilities to match. The Highlights Safe Swimming: The beach features a large, netted swimming enclosure, making it ideal for families with young children or those wary of open-water currents. The water is typically calm and clear. The Jetty: A central feature of the reserve, the jetty is a hotspot for local fishers and a popular "leap of faith" spot for teenagers jumping into the deeper water. Adventure Playgrounds: There are two distinct, well-shaded playgrounds—one fenced specifically for toddlers and another for older children—both built on sand. Parkland & Picnics: The reserve boasts expansive, flat grassy areas perfect for kicking a ball or setting up a gazebo. There are several undercover picnic tables and electric BBQs available (though these are first-come, first-served). Facilities & AccessibilityClifton Gardens Reserve is a fantastic base for exploring the Sydney Harbour foreshore. Here are the details on the best bushwalking routes and the current parking situation for your visit: Top Bushwalking Routes Since Clifton Gardens sits right on the Bondi to Manly track, you have access to some of Sydney’s most iconic scenery: Bradleys Head to Chowder Bay (Approx. 4km / 1.5–2 hours): The Route: This is a gentle bush track that hugs the headland. It starts at the end of the beach (Chowder Bay side) and winds around to Taronga Zoo Wharf. Why go: It offers postcard views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. You'll pass historic military relics and the heritage-listed Athol Hall. Georges Heights Lookout (Approx. 20–30 mins one way): The Route: Head uphill from Chowder Bay toward the Georges Heights Artist Precinct. It's a bit of a climb but well-paved. Why go: The lookout provides one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Sydney CBD and the harbour entrance. You can explore the old military hospital buildings and tunnels along the way. Clifton Gardens to Rawson Oval (Approx. 15–20 mins): The Route: A short, "remnant bushland" track that leads from the reserve up toward Rawson Park. Why go: Great for a quick stretch and birdwatching; Rawson Park at the top often has excellent views and local sports matches on weekends.Clifton Gardens Reserve in Mosman is widely considered one of Sydney’s most versatile and family-friendly harbourside gems. This is a great place for a family outing. There is a playground for the kids and a basketball court. There are also public toilets and public electric barbecues, shaded and unshaded picnic areas, a netted swimming area, a jetty for fishing, a car park (you must pay for parking)and also a cafe. It is a very popular place and is generally busy most of the time.

It was a nice experience we had for the first time. My son enjoyed playing in the sand playground and we enjoyed having a nice day in the shade at the beach close to the playground. It’s highly recommended for the family. The parking was expensive though! $40 for a day which of course make it available for most of the day.

There is a basketball court, open grass areas for sports, BBQ's, amenities, Cafe and restaurant nearby. Good bush walking at either side of the park. Plenty of space to lounge around.
