A Stunning 80th Birthday Lunch at Mimi's! Title: A Stunning 80th Birthday Lunch at Mimi’s! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the pleasure of being invited as a family friend to celebrate a very special 80th birthday lunch, organized beautifully by the birthday boy’s daughter. The Venue: The place was full of vibe and perfect for a celebration; while our private room (their only one) offered excellent seclusion, the view was limited to the parking lot rather than the sea. It is a little letdown. The Food: Amazing and worth a visit (see the menu). A standout was the Kinross station breaded lamb cutlet. My wife doesn’t eat beef, and the staff seamlessly replaced her wagyu with this — it was perfectly crunchy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside. The Service: We felt incredibly welcome. A huge thank you to Mary, who looked after us for three hours with such warmth and humour. Logistics: The daughter even arranged two 7-seaters for us, which was a brilliant move as weekend parking here can be a headache. If you can, book a drop-off/pick-up service to keep the experience a '5/5'. I enjoyed it so much that I’m already planning a return trip to try their famous hand-picked spanner crab.
We had such a beautiful pre-Valentine’s lunch at Mimi’s by Coogee Beach, and it was honestly the perfect way to spend the afternoon. The location is stunning, just steps from the ocean, and the whole space has a relaxed yet elegant coastal vibe. The atmosphere felt romantic but still comfortable, with soft lighting, stylish interiors, and a lovely beachside energy. We started with the bread and sour cream butter, which was simple but absolutely delicious. The bread was warm and fresh, and the butter was creamy and full of flavor. We also ordered caviar, which made the experience feel extra special and indulgent. For mains, we chose the rib eye steak and the Crudo of the Sea. The rib eye was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The crudo was incredibly fresh, light, and beautifully presented perfect for a beachside setting. Everything tasted refined without being too complicated. You can really tell they focus on high-quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. The food, atmosphere, and location all came together to create such a memorable dining experience. It was the perfect pre-Valentine’s celebration, and we will definitely be back again.
We visited for Sunday lunch and ordered the $278 set menu per person. As it was our first visit, finding the entrance was a little confusing at first, but it turned out to be in the same building as Coogee Pavilion, which gave us a small laugh once we realised. The set menu began with Our bread, sour cream butter and progressed through dishes such as Freshly shucked rock oysters with white Kampot pepper mignonette, Crudo, Duck leg pastilla, Hand-picked crab with preserved lemon mayonnaise, and continued with highlights like Slowly grilled lobster with orange wine sauce and Sun Gold tomato chitarra pasta and Lidman sirloin. Mediterranean flavours aren’t usually my first choice, but aside from a few ingredients I don’t eat, I found the experience thoroughly satisfying. The produce was fresh, the sauces well-balanced, and each dish had a clear sense of identity without feeling overworked. The service was particularly memorable. The staff took time to explain each dish in detail, and cocktails were prepared tableside, adding an engaging visual element to the meal. One of the most impressive moments was the burrata service, which was assembled from a cart, with peaches prepared and plated at the table — a thoughtful touch that turned the course into a small performance rather than just another dish. Even the smaller interactions stood out. On the way to the restroom, a staff member asked if it was our first visit and offered a brief introduction to the kitchen, a simple but genuine gesture that made the space feel welcoming. Overall, it was a well-rounded lunch experience where food, service, and presentation were in balance. A great choice for a special occasion or a first visit.
Expensive but worth the splurge for a special occasion. The staff were great to us and the food was delicious. We went all out and had appetisers, entrees mains and dessert. Didn’t take photos of everything we had but it was all fantastic.
We visited Mimi’s about a month ago to celebrate our engagement which has happened right before our booking, and I have to say we could not have chosen a better restaurant for such a special occasion. From the moment we arrived, the team was incredibly kind and welcoming. They knew we were celebrating and gave us the time to truly enjoy the moment, never rushing us to order. In fact, it was the opposite — they offered us champagne while we waited, which was a lovely touch. A special shout-out to Kate, the host/manager, and Martha who looked after our table. Their kindness and professionalism made the entire experience even more memorable. We chose the set menu, which was an excellent decision. The food was beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. We will definitely be returning to try more from the à la carte menu. Mimi’s is well worth the visit and is highly recommended for a special occasion. It truly delivers a fine-dining experience in both food and service.
