Bayview Dog Park

Updated 22 May 2026

Bayview Dog Park is a popular waterfront spot where dogs can combine open space with easy access to calm, shallow water. The grassy areas give dogs room to move, while the gentle water conditions make it a good place for relaxed swims.

It's especially appealing later in the day when there's more shade, and it tends to draw a steady local crowd. Its proximity to the Newport Hotel also makes it a convenient stop for a swim after a meal.

Dog rules

I’ve been to many dog parks, but Bayview is hands down my favorite. It has everything a dog could possibly want – lush grass, soft sand, and refreshing water. My dog absolutely loves it! The park is incredibly spacious, with heaps of room for dogs of all sizes to run around and play. Whether your dog loves to sprint across the grass, dig in the sand, or splash in the water, there’s something for everyone. It’s also perfect for socializing, as there’s plenty of space for dogs and their owners to spread out and enjoy. Highly recommended for any dog owner looking for a fantastic place to let their furry friend have fun and get some exercise.

Busy park and beach when I went but such a lovely place. The water was calm and our dog loved being off leash and playing with all the other pups there. We went on a monday public holiday and there still was a lot of parking available for us.

We had a great afternoon! It’s my puppy’s first swim and she was so brave. Clear water and big sallow water areas to give my pup confidence to splash before jumping. Will come back again and again this summer!
