Pennys Hotel is a dog-friendly pub in Potts Point. Fitzroy Gardens is also around 350 metres away, making it easy to fit in a walk before or after your visit.
Staff are friendly and helpful, Cocktails are fantastic and so well priced. Dogs are welcome. Food was a bit of a let down for a couple of us Squid was great, steak was great, Bao was ok, meat pasta wasn’t enjoyed and falafel was bland. My dog was happy as he got to eat both the falafel and pasta dishes. But overall I love the place, will just have to work out best dinner options next time.
The food at Pennys is top notch delicious and the kitchen team deliver time after time. Consistently great quality and for a reasonable price. Overall service including the bar staff is excellent. Well done.
I hosted a large event in their downstairs space at the end of last year. I’ve organised many large groups across various venues before. Penny’s was probably one of the easiest to organise. Low fuss, big delivery. The space was fantastic. A few different nooks and crannies too. A mix of bar tables and tall chairs but lounge areas too. Bar staff were also great. It was a gamble not having seen the venue since renovation but it was better than expected. Special thank you to Tayla who communicated quickly and clearly. They really made it all feel so seamless. Highly recommend this pub for a casual drop in but also for a venue hire space.
Our Saturday evening at Penny’s was so much fun! The $15 cocktails were a hit and the food was such good value for the area! Not to mention the live music was such a great addition to the venue! We would definitely come back again!!
Unfortunately, our experience at Penny’s Hotel was a real letdown. We came in expecting a decent pub dinner, but left disappointed on almost every level. The food was underwhelming across the board. The Caesar salad was bland and barely had any dressing, the garlic bread was dry and flavorless, and the so-called “crispy” kipfler potatoes were soggy, dry, and didn’t even seem like real kipflers. Everything lacked care and flavour. To top it off, the music was way too loud for a 7pm dinner. I understand pubs get noisy, but this felt more like a late-night gig than a relaxed evening meal. Service was patchy and not particularly welcoming. We won’t be back. There are too many better options nearby to settle for a place that misses the mark this badly.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
