My English friend Pete and I went to KX Hotel last night for a drink and a steak, like we have been for over 20 years. The last few times the same bouncer at the door has asked us for ID. Mind you it's always 6 pm, and we are always sober when we arrive, and we are (let's say) at least 50 years old. My friend has always made a point of refusing to show his ID. And he has a point because it is bordering on being petty and pointless. Last night however, my friend leaned in a little harder than before and rightly asked, "mate, are you serious?" The bouncer refused my friend entry. My friend lost his shit and gave the bouncer a right telling off before I dragged him off. It was literally the funniest bollocking I have witnessed in a long time. I was laughing about it all night. No doubt, you are within your rights, and the law demands that patrons always show their ID when asked, and it's your policy, etc and blah and blah. Anyway, I'm actually not here to complain. In fact, I've left you a 5-star review. My friend and I escaped yet another dreary night on your balcony wondering where all the people are and why "this place ain't what it used to be". We ended up having a fantastic dinner at Chester White, and then some excellent cocktails at Jangling Jacks. So, thanks for giving us an unforgettable night, and keep up the great work, KX Hotel!

I like this place. It has 5 floors, though only 2 were open in the day we went. Shame as one of the floors was the roof. They have happy hour options, including food, and a monthly beer that is in on discount for said month. We drank in the balcony where you watch the people with the famous Coca Cola sign illuminating them. We did not eat so no rating of food.

I have a love hate relationship with this venue. It has its moments of being really daggy and other times fabulous. There are different levels ranging from the front bar to the roof top which has a great view of the neighbouring area. It is not somewhere I would go to all the time but is worth popping in for a drink.

Went to the KX Hotel with friends for dinner and was really happy with the menu items. We tried the gnocchi, sliders, and the classic schnitzel - each menu item was really good and a nice sized portion. Atmosphere was chill and good for a group event.

Went to Kings Cross Hotel with a group and we all had a really good experience. Service was quick and the food was above the quality of the surrounding pubs we’ve tried. Noticed a new menu in which I highly recommend the mushroom arancini (a must) and the sticky lamb ribs. For mains, the pork belly stood out, and the gnocchi and Riverina Angus rump were both cooked really well. The pan roasted barramundi goes well with the seared tuna rainbow bowl (the dukkah and avo was sourced fresh). Good atmosphere, attentive staff. Would definitely go back.
