Hyde Park is a popular dog-friendly park in Sydney where dogs are welcome on lead. You'll find shaded areas nearby, while East Sydney Hotel is around 500 metres away for an easy post-walk drink.
Dogs are welcome on-leash. Under the Companion Animals Act 1998, dogs must be on-leash in City of Sydney parks and public places, except in designated off-leash areas. Dogs are prohibited from playgrounds, sports courts and enclosed sports ovals.
A nice shaded park where you can relax in the middle of the city. We saw some parts fenced up, possibly due to some works being carried out. As a result, some areas were blocked off and the views were not as picturesque. Otherwise, a nice place to relax and get some shade. I didn't see a playground for the children and there were no close available toilets within the park. The closest one we found was beside the Hydeaway cafe, which is at the edge of the park. There might have been one at the memorial, which we didn't visit.
If you're having a tiring day, taking a moment to rest in this park with a refreshing drink and a snack will truly lift your spirits. It's the perfect spot to sit back and relax.
Hyde Park is a great place to unwind in the middle of the city. The park feels open, green, and well-maintained, offering a calm contrast to the busy urban surroundings. It’s ideal for a walk, sitting under the trees, or just taking a short break. You’ll often see locals jogging, relaxing on the grass, or passing through as part of their daily routine. Nothing overly spectacular, but it does its job very well—a clean, peaceful, and accessible space right in central Sydney.
Hyde Park is a must-visit for all. It is perfectly located on the edge of the CBD. Very green and plenty of space to relax and enjoy some sunshine or to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A lot to see, like the War Memorial and Fountain. Whether you use it to walk throguh to access another part of the city or for spending quality time to relax and recharge, definitely a must-do while in the city. Sit under a tree and look up for 15 minutes is an amazing thing to do also.
Best place adjacent to Central Business District of Town hall area, to relax amidst lust greenery. Many benches are there to sit and eat. Two underground local train stations are at the two opposite corners of Hyde park. On its opposite side is St Mary's Church.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
