Crown Sydney is a pub in Barangaroo with outdoor seating. It hasn't yet been confirmed as dog-friendly, so it's best to check with the venue before visiting.
I recently stayed three nights at Crown Sydney and, while the rooms, views and breakfast were excellent, the overall experience was disappointing and well below what I would expect from a hotel positioned at this level. The room itself was exceptional, with beautiful views across Darling Harbour, King Street Wharf and the western suburbs. Breakfast at Epicurean was also excellent. Unfortunately, the service experience across the stay did not match the quality of the property. Arrival set the tone. At a hotel of this standard, I expected a warm welcome, clear direction on where to park, an offer of assistance with luggage and guidance to reception. Instead, the driveway experience felt cold and transactional. I received no direction while sitting there waiting, and when I eventually rolled my window down I was told to wait. A few minutes later I was asked what I wanted. When I explained I was checking in, I was simply told to leave the car there. I then unloaded my own bags, with no offer of assistance and no direction to the front desk. Reception was similarly underwhelming. There were only two staff serving initially, with a queue forming before another staff member came out. After waiting, there was no thanks for waiting, no welcome to the hotel and very little warmth in the interaction. I was told the room was not ready and that I would receive a text. When the room was ready, I again had to queue at reception, which became a common theme during the stay. When I collected my keys, they were handed over with a gesture towards the lifts. There was no explanation of the hotel, no personal touch and nothing that made the arrival experience feel memorable. Housekeeping was generally good until the final day. I asked housekeeping on the floor to service my room while I was out for a few hours and was told it would be organised. It was not done. I later called guest services and was again told it would be arranged. Two hours later, it still had not been serviced, so I gave up, put the do not disturb light on and got on with the work I needed to do. CIRQ was another odd experience. After Vivid, I returned with friends hoping to have a drink. We were told in the lobby that walk-ins could not be accepted because they were too busy. As we were deciding where else to go, the same staff member said a table had just become available. We went upstairs to find at least ten spare tables inside, which remained spare for the hour we were there. Check-out also lacked polish. I called guest services from my room to ask for my car to be brought around, but was told I had to see the bell desk in person and they would not take the valet ticket number over the phone. There was no offer of luggage assistance. At the bell desk I was told the car would be around 10 minutes. When it arrived, the staff member handed me the key, asked if I was checking out, and walked away. No luggage assistance, no question about my stay and no departure greeting. Overall, Crown Sydney has exceptional rooms, views and facilities, but the guest service did not match the standard the hotel promotes. For a property marketed as a luxury resort, the experience should feel seamless from arrival to departure. Instead, too many interactions felt impersonal, inconsistent and, at times, indifferent. It is hard not to feel that the broader resort is built around the casino, with the hotel guest experience taking a back seat. That is the most disappointing part. The property itself is impressive, but luxury is not just the room or the view. It is the way guests are welcomed, assisted and farewelled. There are many hotels across Sydney that may not have the same scale, but offer a far more personalised, polished and memorable guest experience. Based on this stay, Crown Sydney did not deliver the level of service I would expect from a hotel of this class.
Had buffet with my boys at Epicurean. Food spread was not bad but personally, I think $155 is a bit over the mark. Anyway, they should get professional in to give the room a proper clean. Not sure its the carpet or what but was overwhelmed by the stench as soon as we were inside the room.
Absolutely incredible stay. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and extremely comfortable. The bed was so comfortable. The view was spectacular and really made the whole experience feel special. Overall, a fantastic hotel with comfort, style, and amazing views. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. Pool was lovely and warm.
Crown Sydney delivered an exceptional five star experience from the moment we arrived. The hotel combines luxury, elegance, and world class hospitality in every detail. Our room was beautifully designed with stunning harbour views, premium amenities, and outstanding comfort. The staff were professional, attentive, and always willing to assist with a warm and welcoming attitude. Dining options throughout the hotel were excellent, offering high quality food and impeccable service. The location at Barangaroo is perfect for exploring Sydney while enjoying a peaceful waterfront atmosphere. Every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations, making Crown Sydney one of the finest luxury hotels in Australia. Highly recommended for an unforgettable and sophisticated experience.
I stayed during Australia Day weekend, paying $950 for a Deluxe King Room (one night). I tried to check in early, but no luck; they said they’d SMS once ready. So I killed time at Nobu Sydney for a late lunch. Then came the text… they addressed me as “Mr.” For a luxury hotel charging $950 a night, that’s a massive fail. Pronouns matter and yes, it got under my skin! The check-in itself was smooth and the staff friendly, but that message? Not it. LOL Now to the good stuff, the room was stunning! Spacious, clean, luxurious… but honestly gave off more business traveller than staycay escape. The view was okay, I could spot the Harbour Bridge and some empty land. Loved the spa bath, comfy bed, and overall cosy vibes. Service was solid. Would I stay again? Maybe if it’s half price You can definitely find nicer spots around Sydney for the same cost. Oh, and a hot tip: Bring your ID to the pool or you’ll be denied entry (yep, seriously). The Pool, let’s just say it felt more like the fish markets than a relaxing swim.
