Nelson Bay Beach is a dog-friendly park where dogs are welcome on lead. With waterside surrounds and plenty of shade, it's a pleasant spot for a relaxed walk with your dog. You'll also find parking nearby.
All Council reserves that are not off-lead or prohibited are dog on-lead areas. Dogs must be under the effective control of a competent person by means of an adequate chain or leash at all times. You are not permitted to walk more than 4 dogs at any one time. Dog owners must remove all dog faeces — fines of $275 apply. Absolutely beautiful place - very family friendly. The water was calm and warm. Plenty of shade. The sand was clean and super fine. Plenty of off street parking.
The beach itself is very narrow, especially at high tide, when it's practically non existent. At low tide, the beach is nice, nice sand, a bit of shade from overhanging shrubs, the water is clean, and makes for a great relaxing beach day. Small invisible jelly fish around that bump into you occasionally, but I'm told they are harmless.
It's such a beautiful beach, where dolphins are easily spotted. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful, with plenty of parking space available.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
