First Light Petersham

My partner and I dined here around 10.30am on 7 December 2025, Sunday. The good - my coffee, and my partner's toast with avocado and spinach were good. The bad - the cafe had a French toast on the menu advertised as made with brioche bread, featuring seasonal fruits, preserved fruits, banana, bacon (which I asked to be removed), and maple syrup. What arrived was 2 dry slices of supermarket wholemeal/white bread panfried in an egg mixture with only bananas (see photos). This dish costs $20. I usually do not complain about my food but this time I felt that what I received was egregiously different from what is stated on the menu. I made a comment to the server, who then brought out a bowl of berries, which is appreciated - but I should not have to request for it in the first place. The bread is unacceptable - if the cafe had run out of brioche, they need to inform the customer. This was a disappointing last meal in Sydney.

I stumbled across this place a few weeks ago. Today I found myself nearby, so decided to drop back in, as my first visit was a pleasant experience. The barista welcomed me back; he remembered me. He also remembered my coffee order. My sausage and egg muffin and coffee were both served up quickly. Both, were again, excellent.

Lovely little cafe in Petersham. Small and simple menu, but everything tasted good! Their coffee is incredible! Also very fairly priced, not many places to bacon/egg/sausage rolls for $10 anymore.

$12 for a breakfast wrap (bacon, egg, hashbrown) and a small coffee 👍🏻👍🏻 Really good deal for the price. For comparison, breakfast wrap is way better than Maccas.

Best little cafe in the inner west! Menu is absolutely incredible! Flavour explosion! Highly recommend the Shiro Miso Mushrooms 🤤 coffee was perfect and the team are so friendly! 5 stars
