My wife, son and I stayed at the Paragon and I loved the old building. Staff were friendly, great bistro and you could walk to main street after it. I had the best sleep and drove home 400km safely. The Price was fair considering no ensuite, but you have a basin in room and a bathroom isnt far down the hall. I loved Mudgee first visit and I will stay here again, we stayed sat night hotel was busy but rooms are upstairs I could barely hear the people
You just can’t beat the food and service at the Paragon hotel . It’s hands down the best pub food in Mudgee . The staff are courteous and polite and honestly nothing is a problem . Young Wyatt does a great job in the kitchen, Emma is top notch in the front bar and a great wine list also We ordered the Parmy and the roast of the day . Delicious and hearty servings . As locals , It’s our go to pub in Mudgee and worth everyone of it’s 5 stars ⭐️
Have eaten here consistently in the past, but not for a year or so. Ordered the nachos and it was the weirdest thing I've ever eaten (I have always ordered them in the past too)... The beef was essentially a paste - did not taste beefy but very glutinous and a horrible texture, and seemingly a bit raw in parts. It was like eating glue Very different to how it has been previously. Other people at the table also found their meals a bit average, we left early and I don't think we'll eat here again
I have worked in Mudgee & still frequently visit a good friend who lives there. In all this time I had never been to the Paragon but this night a large group of local ladies & myself went for dinner. I ordered the Asian Beef Salad with a ‘side’ of halloumi. Others ordered a variety of different meals. My salad was nothing like any Asian Beef Salad I’d had before. It was basically thickly chopped cabbage heavily laden with a strong balsamic type dressing with chunks of steak added. Though it looked un-appetising, I tried a few bites but couldn’t eat anymore. There were no Asian spices or anything else usually in this dish. I called the waitress to ask about my side of halloumi & was told it had been added to the salad!! It was then that I told her the salad was unsatisfactory & explained why. She was apologetic & offered a refund. As I was hungry, I asked for the Caesar Salad & I would be happy for them to just refund the difference only of $8. The Caesar was not much better & drowned in dressing. I ate some as didn’t want cause more fuss to embarrass my friends. They however, were quite satisfied with their more ‘pub style’ deep-fried meals. When I went to ask for my refund & explained why to the head of the kitchen, I was refused. The excuse being that is how they always do their Asian beef Salad. Discussion ensued & she stood her ground. By this time I was feeling quite disgusted by not only the food served to me but also the very dismissive attitude displayed by the female head of the kitchen. BTW, the waitress who served me was lovely & would have given me a refund if she could. I am disappointed by this service & to give such a negative review. However, I do hope the Salads at the Paragon can be brought up to standard in order to compete better with the numerous other fantastic dining venues in Mudgee. I doubt myself or my friends will be returning to the Paragon for a meal anytime soon.
The Paragon is a grand old building. It has been maintained very well for its age. I had a good outside view. Everything worked well. The bed was great. The dining was superb (country style...awesome). If it only had an enquire...the shared bathroom needed upgrade. I think it's owners try very hard. Trevor Taggerts Carpets- Bendigo.
