Mona Vale Beach is a Northern Beaches beach with a designated off-leash area and open sand. Dogs can run off-leash in the marked section and on-leash elsewhere, with bag stations and water access on hand. It is a relaxed coastal spot for a run and a swim. A friendly beach for an off-leash outing.
Dog rules
A designated off-leash trial area operates at the southern end of Mona Vale Beach until 13 October 2026. Dogs may be off leash in the trial area from 5:30am to 10am and 5pm to 9pm during daylight saving time, and from 6am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm outside daylight saving time, every day. Dogs are prohibited in the trial area outside these hours and on all other parts of Mona Vale Beach at all times. Dogs must be on leash on the two access paths from South Mona Vale Headland.

A well-known beach in Mona Vale next to Surfview Road. Parking costs around $15 per hour, so better not stay there for too long! Also, in summer, try to arrive early before the crowds/heat come. And also, enjoy the waves, as whether you treat them as a wavepool or something to surf on: they occur year-round

. Surfing: The beach is well-known for its excellent surfing conditions, with consistent waves that attract both beginners and experienced surfers. The surf break is particularly famous at the southern end of the beach. Rock Pool: One of the standout features is the picturesque ocean rock pool, situated at the southern end of the beach. It’s a great spot for a safe swim with beautiful views of the ocean.
