Criterion Hotel is a pub in Sydney with outdoor seating. It hasn't yet been confirmed as dog-friendly, so it's best to check with the venue before visiting.
Nice art deco decore makes the Criterion feel like a good old fashion Sydney pub! Great for a quick beer while you're waiting for the bus home (have a beer before getting on a Sydney bus at your own risk!) or perhaps the Metro with Garigal station just over the road. Beers are good and cold and on a Friday, not too expensive with a scooner of Carlton Draught only costing $7.50. Toilets are down a very steep flight of stairs (classic Sydney pub!) but are clean and importantly don't stink of the old Tank Stream. Staff are mostly okay. The bar staff are a bit precious but the guys on the doors are charmers!
Impressive pub located on the Main Street. Between the beer garden out back, long dining room and front bar area, the pubs location and view of the river nearby was well worth the stop. We had lunch and the food was not only delicious, but priced well. Also everyone was really friendly.
Great position in the CBD. Clean and tidy room. Quiet rooms. Maybe add coffee/tea facilities in each room instead of relying on a communal area. Slight hic cup at check-in when the cleaner was running late and I couldn’t check in to way past 3 PM But that’s just a minor issue that can be rectified. Stairs only with no lift so factor that in if you have difficulty walking or doing stairs.
I don't know what is the problem with the male staff here, he is always asking me to go outside when I am not playing or someone who I am with is playing and also when I am finished playing even though I have drinks on my hands always. It's for two consecutive days yesterday I e ended playing and he asked me if you play then stay otherwise go outside this is not a waiting area it was clear I was watching other playing and in that group there were 5 and only one was playing all of them were just standby and he only asked me to get out in a rather rude manner this happened when I was with my friend and he only asked me. I do not what grudge he has with me. Yes, I am also thinking why am I wasting my time writing this but I don't usually write reviews in places in go but this kinds makes me feel bad when I am with my friends enjoying and staff comes in and ask me to go out even though I am not being a bother to anyone.
Just a good pub I've been coming to since I could drink. Im glad that it hasn't changed, its even better right at this moment. Im 33 this year. Never stayed here though hahah! Maybe a birthday present.
