Hosted my birthday in the upstairs area with the Buddy’s team and it was fantastic. The setup was perfect, with the drinks wall, great lighting, and an overall atmosphere that was ideal for a party. The space comfortably accommodated around 40 people while still feeling warm and cosy. The canapé menu was delicious and everyone raved about it. The team were also incredibly friendly and easy to work with throughout the planning process and on the night itself. Highly recommend for anyone looking to host a special event!

I used the upstairs of Buddy's as a location for a music video shoot. The owners + managers couldn't have been more helpful. They were so amazing, kind, accommodating & were excited about the project. These people really care about local business, music, art etc. I would 1000% use this location for drinks with friends, parties, showcases etc. Would highly recommend spending your money here. It's a great, fun, cool vibe and ran by amazing people. I love these independently run venues. They are always willing go the extra mile for you. 5 stars !!

We absolutely love Buddy's!!! As an artist manager I have booked Buddy's many times and we have had huge success there! They are awesome to work with. Friendly, supportive and great communicators. They care about the live music scene and especially the artists playing there. Oh and the food is great too! I couldn't recommend Buddy's highly enough!!!

Held my 30th upstairs at Buddy’s Bar and it was a phenomenal experience - the staff were fantastic especially Hazel & Tamara, but so too was everyone else involved. They were incredibly accomodating and attentive to making sure the night was a smashing success. The food was great, all of the guests loved the self-service bar, and the music & lighting were well managed by Hazel & Chris as we had a live band playing 👌👌 The owner Jimmy made sure it all went smoothly, you could tell he legitimately cared about how the event ran. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Honestly, if you’re in Sydney and you don’t check out Buddy’s Bar in Newtown, you’re missing out. This place just hits different ; it’s got a soul, proper authenticity, and that’s 100% down to the team and the two legends running it, Jimmy and Duncan. The staff? Absolute gems. Super nice, super attentive, and they come from all over the world, which makes you feel instantly welcome. And believe me, coming from Paris, I know when a place is nailing hospitality. The vibe is always on point: live bands during the week, DJs on the weekend, and it’s not just some random setup ; they’ve got a real concert room, designed by sound engineers, so the sound is insane. Plus, there’s an actual booker curating the lineup, so the acts are always pro and worth checking out. And then there’s the food : way above what you’d expect from a bar. The chef is clearly putting effort into it, and it shows. Tasty, proper dishes with real flavour. If I had to pick just one spot in Sydney to grab a drink, meet people, party, and actually feel at home, it’d be Buddy’s Bar. No hesitation.
