The Bank

Dogs welcome
Dog rating

Updated 9 June 2026

The Bank Hotel is one of the most complete dog friendly pubs in the Inner West, with a huge amount of space and plenty of flexibility depending on the kind of outing you are having.

It is a large multi-area venue with indoor seating across multiple bars and levels, outdoor tables out the front, and a huge beer garden out the back. The rear garden is the standout, with shade, shelter, misters for summer, and heaters for winter, making it a reliable option in any season.

It also works especially well for long lunches or larger catch ups. The booths make it easier for some dogs to settle in beside you or up on your lap, and the size of the venue makes it a strong option for bigger groups of people and dogs.

The staff are very welcoming towards dogs, often bringing out water bowls and sometimes treats. The regular Dog Day events are a good reflection of how genuinely dog friendly the venue is.

Dog rules

Dogs are welcome in indoor areas excluding gaming areas, as well as throughout the outdoor spaces.

Please keep dogs leashed, calm, and under control for the comfort of all patrons.

Went for a friendly outing with co-workers and it was HOT! We went to the outdoor garden area but with the shade and the water mist, it was actually not bad at all. We ordered a spread of Shares, and hands down the Burrata + Flatbread was amazing! The jam they used worked so well as a combo with the Burrata. Also had the Pavlova and Smoked Apple Tarte Tartin. Pavlova was delicious and the Smoked Apple is a bitter (wasn't to my liking but at the same time, I didn't know what to expect from Smoked apples!) Drank with their mocktails- Grapefruit Spritz and Pineapple Mai Tai. Super refreshing on a hot day.

This was a serendipitous find as we wandered in Newtown, and what a wonderful surprise! Our server/bartender Sarah was delightful and went out of their way to get finger limes for our delicious cocktails. My husband had the best lamb of our whole 2 week holiday in Sydney! My salad was perfect and the garden seating was so lovely.

We were in a group of 20 ranging in ages from 1 to 70 having a lunch birthday celebration. All left happy. We had a couple of large tables to the left of the bar and everyone enjoyed themelves. Good quality pub food, enough space for everyone to talk, and great service from the friendly and helpful staff.
