I love this place! It's an American BBQ style restaurant that specializes in smoked and slow-cooked meats and it's a great little "hole in the wall" type of establishment that's all but invisible from the street. There's quite a variation in the menu with starters, sides, meat dishes, ribs, steaks and burgers - plus even a few Vegan options and a range of desserts... and even a kid's menu section. The 'loaded fries' were certainly a highlight for us (see images). We saw a few families eating here who appeared to really enjoy themselves. And, as the evening progressed, the establishment filled with couples and groups, most of whom appeared to be regular customers. Staff were incredibly polite and helpful. And we much appreciated them squeezing us in with barely 15 minutes notice during a busy evening. There's a charm to the place that's hard to define and the lighting at the Bar plus the prolific blackboard wall art adds to the informal atmosphere. Parking can be a little tricky due to the location being virtually directly across the road from Katoomba train station. We look forward to returning and testing out their Pitmaster Brisket Burger and their Bootlegger Bacon Cheeseburger on our next visit.
Great atmosphere, staff, food & drinks were fantastic. I myself have cooked plenty of american bbq over the years & would highly recommend the full share plate for 2. Uber pick up & drop off from the caravan park was to easy not too. Highly recommend 👌
Really disappointing guys dam what a shame I was hoping this was going to blow my socks off. The only thing it did was question why I decided to go here. The so called cheese dipping sauce $5 was bad so bad I actually thought how could you get something so simple so wrong. It tasted like flour I think you made a roux then added the milk but didn’t cook the flour out enough and added a bit of cheese. Not only that but it was slightly cold and was starting to dry out on top all honestly it was YUCK ! The smoked Mac and cheese was a disaster again it was cold no salt or pepper no flavour no CHEESE and definitely no smoke flavour. Again with the roux you do know Mac and cheese is meant to be this gooey soft texture pasta like a béchamel sauce. Yours was the opposite of that. My brisket burger was crap too the brisket was stone cold there was so much mustard that’s all you could taste. To me a brisket burger should be shedded and beautifully tender. To be honest I have had better at a normal burger joint. And just with the burger you really need to let people know that you will be adding truffle salt to there chips as some people like me cannot stand and really dislike truffle. In all honesty I think your chef lets this place down, it’s not the menu it’s the person that cooks the food as we found the wait staff lovely.
Awesome Texan barbecue kind of place with really good gluten free options. Staff were lovely, knowledgeable and diligent with our coeliac members in our family. They went above and beyond to bake the fries instead of deep frying them as the fryer had been used to cook some gluten food items. Loved the fermented pickles that came with the meat share plate. Would definitely recommend for sensitive coeliacs.
We had our first visit on a Thursday for lunch. There weren’t too many Tables there. Food was great, service was excellent, and we will be back. They didn’t have any pulled pork which was sad but I suppose that’s the nature of meat that takes a long time to cook. The brisket was excellent and the fried chicken was unique and delicious. The GF option is also a plus.
