Mrs Underwood is a cafe in Newtown. It hasn't yet been confirmed as dog-friendly, so it's best to check with the venue before visiting.
Came here twice for take away coffee only. Both times the coffee was perfect and the staff friendly and helpful. What caught my attention was that during my visits multiple regulars showed up and I could tell that the staff and the customers had a lovely bond just by the way they interacted. Keen to stop by some time for snacks. We only recently moved to the area and this kind of coffee shops is exactly what we were after. Real people serving real people:) Bonus: lots of doggos brought along.
perfect cozy place to enjoy st ali coffee and delicious homemade food:)
The lemon baked lamb in flaky pastry was amazing. I'm not an adventurous eater, but if Bec makes it, I'll try it. This rule has not let me down, ever.
This is such a special space, one that is inclusive, connected and so warm. Bec created a space that brings people together and they have a sense of belonging. The food is next level and the coffee is amazing. Mrs underwood is a huge part of the community and embraces everyone, it has never discriminated against people.
Honestly I can't believe I am having to write this. Yesterday my father in law who is as local as it gets, living no further than across the road, was told by staff that he needs to stop talking to customers. He is 70 years old, and has recently lost his wife of 38 years and has visited this cafe almost daily for around a decade. Talking to other customers has been a big part of his social life and one tat the other customers have enjoyed. If they don't want to participate in conversation that is up to them to decide, not for a cafe to take upon themselves to police. This is a free world. As it stands my farther in laws mental health is shot as in one fouls swoop this cafe robbed him of his dignity and a huge part of his social life. You all should be incredibly ashamed of yourselves.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
