Ben Buckler is an urban locality in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the suburb of North Bondi in the Waverley Council local government area. It is sometimes referred to simply as "the northern headland of Bondi Bay." Today I saw and took photos of two falcons, it was really windy Ben Buckler is the location of the heritage-listed Ben Buckler Gun Battery, which was built in 1892 and subsequently buried; it was later excavated by the NSW Water Board and then reburied. It is also the location of the heritage-listed Bondi Sewer Vent.!Ben Buckler Point at North Bondi is a spectacular coastal headland offering a peaceful escape with some of the most breathtaking views in Sydney, overlooking the whole curve of Bondi Beach and the vast Pacific Ocean. It's a popular spot that combines the Ray O'Keefe Reserve and Sam Fiszman Park, making it a fantastic destination for locals and visitors who want to relax and soak up the natural beauty. 🌊 Key Highlights & Things to Do Spectacular Views: The primary draw is the panoramic vista, perfect for photography, quiet contemplation, and feeling the powerful energy of the ocean waves crashing below the cliffs. Sunsets and Sunrises: It's renowned as one of the best spots in Bondi to watch the sunset over the coastline. Coastal Walk & Fitness: The area connects to the beginning of the famed Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk, making it a great starting point for a scenic jog or stroll. The natural slopes and steps also offer good opportunities for interval training. Rock Pools and Swimming: At low tide, you can find stairs leading down to rock pools on the south side of the reserve, which are a natural splash zone for confident swimmers and rock explorers. Surfing: The northern end of Bondi, around Ben Buckler, is known for offering bigger swells, making it a popular spot for experienced surfers. Picnics and Relaxation: The grassy slopes provide ideal spots for a picnic or simply sitting on a bench to watch surfers, seagulls, and occasionally whales during migration season. Historical Interest: The area is home to the heritage-listed Bondi Sewer Vent and the location of the Ben Buckler Gun Battery (built in 1892 and now buried). 📝 Tips for Your Visit Facilities: Facilities are minimal. There are no public toilets directly on the reserve, so plan ahead or check a local map for nearby amenities. Parking: Parking in the area, particularly along Ramsgate Avenue, is limited and often timed. Public transport or walking is often recommended. Safety: The rocks can be slippery and the ocean waves powerful. Always be cautious near the edges, especially in poor weather or high tide. Pets: Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times. Ben Buckler Point truly offers a serene, laid-back vibe that feels miles away from the bustle of Bondi Beach, even though it's right next door. It's a treasured lookout that showcases the rugged, dramatic side of Sydney's coastline.

Ben Buckler Point — North Bondi’s Raw Beauty Ben Buckler Point at North Bondi Beach is one of the most beautiful and underrated spots in Sydney. The moment you walk toward the rocks, you’re met with the powerful sight and sound of the waves crashing against the cliffs. It's dramatic and mesmerizing — you can feel the mist in the air and hear the deep, rumbling roar as the ocean meets the land with full force. Sometimes the surges are so strong they create these wild, swirling pools around the rocks — it’s nature in full motion. On calmer days, you'll see people sitting right along the rocky edges, swinging their legs over the sides, just soaking it all in. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors to bring a coffee, a snack, or even a drink and just relax while watching the endless horizon. Despite being so close to bustling Bondi Beach, Ben Buckler has this peaceful, laid-back vibe where time feels like it slows down. It’s also a great place for a casual stroll, with amazing photo opportunities — especially at sunset when the light turns golden and the ocean looks endless. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to reflect, watch the waves, or just enjoy a stunning piece of Sydney's coastline, Ben Buckler Point is a must-visit. A true hidden gem that captures the wild spirit of Bondi.
