We had a very disappointing experience at Sandbar in Huskisson. Our dinner took over an hour to arrive, only for us to be told that the dish we originally ordered was not available. We specifically ordered the shrimp/crab ravioli, but instead were served a completely different dish — a seafood pasta. What made it worse was the staff insisting that it was “the same,” which it clearly was not. Rather than acknowledging the mistake, we were told they were simply busy, which felt dismissive and unprofessional. The long wait, incorrect order, and lack of accountability made this one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning. They offered free dessert but it didn’t make us feel better. Next time, learn to inform your customer and don’t assume that they’re just gonna accept it. Were just so hungry so ate it. I’ve never felt disappointed like this before let alone and its my husbands early birthday dinner.
This is the second time I’ve been to Sandbar for dinner in the last few months and it has been delicious again! Both times I’ve been I’ve just shared a few of the different share plates and they are all amazing!
My daughter had her hens here on a long weekend. We had been bumped from a other venue and gratefully were able to find Sandbar. We had the chefs menu for a 3pm sitting which coincided very happily with happy hour. Our whole experience was extraordinary. The food was delicious (pasta with ragu, pork belly and the coota steak standouts for me), the staff efficient and kind and the experience well priced. We were loud but forgiven and could not rate more highly!!
The staff were courteous and efficient. The atmosphere was wonderful, no loud music and the two seater table expansive. The food was excellent. We had two pasta dishes, beef cheeks ragout on penne and garlic prawns with cherry tomatoes. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauces were delicious. We requested bread to scoop up the rest of the sauces and were given home made focaccia that was simply great. We discovered the sous chef is Italian who certainly knows his craft. Highly recommend.
I usually don’t like leaving negative reviews, but in this case, I thought I’d leave our experience. We were on our honeymoon on a Saturday night and wanted to get a feed. We eventually decided on this place. It was a bit pricier than the other places we walked by, but given our honeymoon, I was keen for a nice meal. The staff were lovely, and that’s definitely something I can’t complain about. The whole way through they were genuinely nice and friendly. We ordered a glass of Shiraz, a bottle of prosecco, 3 oysters to start with, a steak and lamb for main. It took about 20 minutes before we received our drinks, 35 minutes until we got the oysters, and just over an hour before our main were served. Added to this, a table of 5 people who arrived 20 minutes later than us got all their drinks and mains well before us, and a table of 3 that arrived a little bit after us got all their food and drinks before us as well. The food was delicious, so that was a plus, but there was not that much per main, especially given the price. The staff did apologise for the delay on food, and like I said, they were very nice and friendly so I did very much appreciate that. The reality is I probably could have gone to another place nearby, paid about $10 less per main and gotten my food 20 minutes earlier. Edit: I wrote my review that night, and I’m now here in the morning. During the night (about 5-6 hrs after I ate) I unfortunately threw up my guts a few times. Cant say for certain it was the oysters, but the only other thing I ate that night was ice cream….
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
