I usually don’t like leaving negative reviews, but in this case, I thought I’d leave our experience. We were on our honeymoon on a Saturday night and wanted to get a feed. We eventually decided on this place. It was a bit pricier than the other places we walked by, but given our honeymoon, I was keen for a nice meal. The staff were lovely, and that’s definitely something I can’t complain about. The whole way through they were genuinely nice and friendly. We ordered a glass of Shiraz, a bottle of prosecco, 3 oysters to start with, a steak and lamb for main. It took about 20 minutes before we received our drinks, 35 minutes until we got the oysters, and just over an hour before our main were served. Added to this, a table of 5 people who arrived 20 minutes later than us got all their drinks and mains well before us, and a table of 3 that arrived a little bit after us got all their food and drinks before us as well. The food was delicious, so that was a plus, but there was not that much per main, especially given the price. The staff did apologise for the delay on food, and like I said, they were very nice and friendly so I did very much appreciate that. The reality is I probably could have gone to another place nearby, paid about $10 less per main and gotten my food 20 minutes earlier. Edit: I wrote my review that night, and I’m now here in the morning. During the night (about 5-6 hrs after I ate) I unfortunately threw up my guts a few times. Cant say for certain it was the oysters, but the only other thing I ate that night was ice cream….
Was a bit concerned about the venue when I saw cyclone fencing around the venue, obviously due to some renovations or work being undertaken but no concern needed. Great friendly waitress and the place was busy which is always a good sign. Margaritas were excellent and all our meals were delicious. We all had a very enjoyable evening. Would definitely return next time.
We book a table to try the pesto pizza and duck confit but unlucky us they run out of it.. we took the squid, and scallops for starter ( which was very nice) sauteed vegetables and gluten free chili prawn pizza which was alrite. The service and the restaurant was very nice tho.
Our group of twelve had an incredible meal last night at Sandbar in Huskisson, we highly recommend The Chef’s Table experience. Even our vegetarian friend was well looked after! Starters were buttery grilled large sweet scallops with seaweed dukkah from a local business PhycoHealth the improvised tuna ceviche - usually kingfish, was very fresh with plenty of serves for our large group. The oysters with finger lime pearls were ocean fresh and also a good size - for Sydney rocks The ricotta & honey-stuffed zucchini flowers deep fried in a tempura style batter was a great hit! For mains, the grilled tuna in tomato and ouzo broth with skordalia was perfectly balanced suttle and lite, large pork cutlets and duck portions were juicy and full of flavour. The duck fat potato's and charred medley of greens were perfect sides with what we had. Sandbars service was warm and friendly staff often checking if we needed drink refills and clearing the table for the next course. We certainly left with satisfied full bellies. Overall we had a fantastic memorable dining experience - especially great to find a restaurant of this calibre open on a Monday.
We almost didn't stop in the restaurant because of some bad reviews. But as soon as we've passed by we had a good feeling about it , and we were right : food was excellent . Amazing services, we spend a lovely evening at this restaurant. We took 3 entree and 1 main to share, the zucchini flower, crispy pork , ceviche (a bit tiny portion for the price but so good.. ) and the fish of the market. All 4 of them were amazing ! Wood def recommand!
