Spectacular gimme 14 of em’ This place is a gem of a cafe with amazing food and drinks. Expect a bit of a wait on weekends during peak times but it’s worth it. MUST TRY: Fish burger and pasta. The honeycomb coffee is also good to try. Lots of free street parking available. Dog friendly outdoor seating.
IG: @foodydesserts 𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒕: DON’T RECOMMEND CAN TRY MUST TRY ✅ 𝑭𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 📸: ~ Fish Burger ~ Detox Soda ~ Prawn Pasta ~ Hot Chocolate ~ Strawberry & Pistachio Greek Yogurt 💬 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔: Everything we ordered was just DELICIOUS🤤 I can totally see why everyone says the fish burger 🍔 is one of the best in Sydney!!! The buns are super soft, the sauce had the perfect tangy-spicy balance cutting through the richness, & the fish itself was sooo tender & fresh without being greasy at all!?😌😌 The prawn pasta is also such a standout, coated in this rich umami shellfish bisque that’s😚 The prawns were incredibly fresh too, still bouncy with that slight crunch iykyk 🦐 For dessert, I had to try their popular yogurt bowl & WOWWW🤩 The greek yogurt was insanely smooth & creamy without that sourness. Paired with the thick dollop of pistachio ganache topped with a sprinkle of sea salt, sweet fresh strawberries 🍓 & crunchy muesli, YUMMMM💚 Their attention to detail is 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 From the flavour balance to the presentation, everything just felt so well thought out~ Easily one of my favourite cafe’s lately & I’ll definitely be back to try their specials ;D #fishburger #prawn #pasta #greekyogurt #fyp
Fish burger here is to die for! Delicious thick fish fillet with a horseradish mayo. Seaweed fries perfectly crispy and prawn pasta was chefs kiss. The wait was quite long for a Sunday lunch with the queue setting us back almost an hour. However staff were very nice and food came out at a decently time.
I came back to Ellen with high expectations, especially for the prawn paste, which was just as good as I remembered — absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t live up to it. The grass-fed steak was extremely tough, almost impossible to chew. It honestly felt like the wrong cut was used, something closer to brisket, and it lacked flavour as well. What really ruined it for me, though, was what I saw while paying. The chef was plating a dish and used his fingers to adjust the food — then suddenly licked his finger. Right after that, he spooned some sauce onto the dish and licked the spoon again. It was quite shocking to witness and, honestly, very off-putting. That moment completely changed how I felt about the place. It came across as highly unprofessional and below basic hygiene standards, which is really disappointing given how good parts of the menu can be.
The latte was great, more on the strong side rather than milky, just how I like it. The fish burger was simple but tasty. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the service was superb. We had a misunderstanding and were served hot chocolate instead of latte that we thought we ordered. We were ok with it, but they insisted to still give us the latte for free! Definitely will come back.
