What people say
From big events which are safe and fun to food that’s far beyond the surrounding spots, the lansdowne is both my favourite hostel and pub in Sydney. The rooftop (and the barbecue they do up there) is topped only by the hospitality of the people who work there and make it what it is, Lewis is a gem and guarantees an ice cold pint. Cheers :)
The bouncer was cocky, arrogant, and outright unpleasant. He insisted on searching a personal bag and went through it like he was on some power trip, digging around as if he’d lost something in there. It was over 41°C outside, yet we were treated like criminals for carrying a simple bottle of water — not like we were smuggling vodka into the venue. Being told to pour it out onto the street, with that same smug attitude, was the final straw. Completely unnecessary, disrespectful, and unacceptable. This left a terrible impression, and as a result, this venue won’t be getting our hard-earned money and is receiving the rating it deserves.
These are the gems that we need to preserve, people who runs these are heroes of our times and should be subsidized. These are places for our new generations to express themselves and gather in a cultural environment. Personally I came for the live music (awesome) and had some Katsu with salad which was great
My friend and I had a great experience at The Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney. The staff were very friendly and helpful—especially Carmen from housekeeping, who was always kind. We were upgraded from an 8-bed room to a 4-bed room with a private bathroom, which was a wonderful surprise. The hotel has everything you need, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the extended stay offer they gave us was very generous. We highly recommend this place and would gladly stay again. The location might be good and the rooms clean, but everything else is a disaster. The security guard was shockingly disrespectful, and the manager even worse – treating paying customers with arrogance and zero professionalism. They claim you can book easily via reception or their Goki system, but in reality, they simply ignore your requests and show no interest in helping. Communication is non-existent. Don’t expect answers to your queries. Even if you’re above 30, a paying guest, and acting respectfully, they will treat you like a child. There are plenty of hostels in Sydney where staff actually respect their guests – even the one right across the street offers a far better experience.
