Signature burger is respectable, the patty was medium and juicy, a good size where the burger didn't fall apart. The bun was strong as well and light where a bite didnt full you mouth with carbs, I'd appreciate some red onion on it, the pickles dont cut through the cheese enough so I do have a greasy mouth feel, but with a beer to finish its not that bad. The salty chips are shoestring with no sause, they got cold quickly in the air con so they 'died' a little. Sever served me. They play loud pop music. But its from my dads best 90s hits and 2000s so I've heard some beaut classics as I've been eating, that was very nice. Its cold with the air-conditioning and its also cold outside...

This is a delayed review as I ate here a few months ago. I felt compelled write this as I eat a nice home made roast and reflect of how bad the Sunday ‘roast’ was here. I’m not typically one to complain and shame online but in this case, this venue really deserves the public humiliation. Came here a few months back with my mate as we saw they did a Sunday roast. What we were actually served was perhaps one of the worst meals I have ever been served in my life. The meat was like 80% fat, dry, flavourless and cold. The vegetables were shrivelled and looked dehydrated from a packet. It was inedible. I took a few bites and couldn’t go through with it, it was seriously that bad. We asked the bartender for a refund, he looked like he felt bad and he offer us 2 schooners on the house which was nice. But we paid 30 dollars each for this garbage! I had no choice but to order McDonald’s afterwards caz I was so desperate. So I basically was down 45 bucks for a McDonald’s meal end of the night. It’s a shame caz it’s otherwise a nice place with an old art deco pub aesthetic. Management needs to step up their game. The picture tells 1000 words, it even looks disgusting.

Staff were great. Food was overpriced and ordinary. Beef patty was probably a quarter of a quarter of a pound. They had four tap beers. All Pale Ales.

Note - I already contacted the venue with a chance to respond and they didn’t We dine out a lot and very rarely have a bad experience if I’m being honest. We have been using eat club lately to explore Sydney. We saw a good deal on Old Clare hotel and had been keen to visit. We came and spent what would have been $110 ($69 with the discount). When ordering, they were out of both types of steak but also the gin I chose to order. We then opted for a Caesar salad with chicken and the barramundi. As you can see from the image, there was very little chicken. We also had to send the fish back as it was not cooked properly. They re cooked the fish. Staffing was bare and not much help on hand. You need to have supplies and staff

The Clare Bar is a total vibe. Booth seating is comfy and makes for long stays. The virgin cocktail list is grand which is nice for us that don’t always have alcohol. The bar snacks are exceptional - simple but good. The smoked cream cheese with salt & vinegar crisps is a great pairing for beers or bubbles. Mum had the yuzu custard, outstanding. Simple fresh dessert some really well.
