Small bar with tables inside and out the front. Always sport playing and dogs allowed throughout.

Hoped it would be a chilled friendly vibe but it was a bit hot and cold. Great to see a dog friendly bar. Furnishings ordinary. Music classy. Ask for a non alcohol drink with only a little ice and it ended up being given one where the ice went above the lip of glass before they poured the drink. Second staff member cold and lacking energy when ordering a snack. Disappointed, hope they can turn it around.

The quiet yellow beauty of the Magpie first spoke to me many months ago when I passed it in Ella’s parents’ car. Two old warriors of a jovial nature sat outside, nursing glasses of the dark, and I knew I would return. When I did, my wandering instincts were rewarded by an instant feeling of peace that flooded my mind and kissed my hands. The stout was sweet; the barman sweeter; the music fine; the floor divine. Best bar in Australia tbh love this place.

A mate and I went to the Magpie on Sunday night, it was quite busy, no tables free so we sat at the bar. Now I rarely/never sit at the bar anywhere, so maybe this is standard practice. But the bartender without eye contact or any required social interaction, put two glasses of iced water in front of us. It was a small gesture, but made a huge impression on me. It was exactly what we needed, and we didn't have to ask. I deeply appreciated it, and as a result will definitely be back and encourage others to do so similarly.

Love this bar. Such a good spot and named after my favourite bird. The staff here are so accommodating, it's a bit warm today and I'm a big boy and the bartender brought me over a water to help me chill without even asking. I feel so special! Will come back just because of this action alone.
