Barangaroo Reserve is a striking harbourside headland park with sandstone terraces, native plantings and sweeping views across the water. Dogs are welcome on-leash along the foreshore paths, with a cafe and toilets on hand. It is a dramatic setting for a walk on the city's edge, especially around sunset. A scenic on-leash spot by the harbour.
Dogs welcome on-leash. Not managed by City of Sydney but by Infrastructure NSW.
Barangaroo Reserve is one of Sydney’s most beautifully designed waterfront parks, and the Stargazer Lawn at the top of the headland is its crown jewel. The gently sloping green space offers sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, including a clear sightline to the Harbour Bridge and even the Crown Tower shimmering in the distance as you walk up through the reserve. I visited tonight hoping to catch the rare six‑planet alignment, and although the weather turned windy and clouds slowly covered half the moon, the lawn still proved to be an excellent stargazing spot. A few others were there with the same hope, and while many of us were disappointed by the cloud cover, the atmosphere remained peaceful and open, with Darling Harbour glowing softly below. Reaching the lawn involves climbing a long set of stone stairs from Wulugul Walk, but the ascent is worth it for the views at the peak. There’s also lift access for those who prefer an easier route. Along the way, I passed locals running, jogging, and cycling — the reserve feels like a living, active space even late in the evening. From the top, I could hear a large boat party on the harbour playing loud music, a reminder that this is a vibrant part of the city. The sound carried all the way up to the lawn, but it didn’t take away from the experience — it simply added a layer of urban energy beneath the calm night sky. With its native landscaping, panoramic views, and easy access to nearby areas like Waranara Terrace and Walumil Lawns, the Stargazer Lawn is a standout public space. Even on a cloudy night, it remains one of the best places in Sydney to unwind, take in the harbour, and look up at the sky.
Great place to have a swim that's safe. Loads of grassy picnic spots and toilets. Great view of Sydney harbour bridge. Ferry service near cafes. Good place to have a break away from the crowds
Barangaroo is a refreshing mix of nature, architecture, and dining by the water. The harbor views are stunning, especially from Barangaroo Reserve, which is beautifully landscaped and great for walking, jogging, or simply relaxing. It’s also a popular spot for sunsets and photo ops. The restaurants and cafes are top-notch — perfect for brunch, after-work drinks, or date nights. There’s a modern, upscale vibe throughout the precinct, and it connects easily to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. That said, a few things hold it back from 5 stars: • Can feel a bit commercial or sterile in some areas — lots of office buildings and new developments, which sometimes makes it feel more like a business zone than a cultural hub. • Parking is expensive and limited, so public transport is your best bet. • Not much shade in some parts of the reserve, so it gets hot during peak sun hours. Still, it’s a great addition to Sydney — clean, accessible, and a nice mix of city energy and green space. Worth visiting, especially for locals looking for a stylish spot to unwind.
Nice park near the city centre Small but beautiful Suitable place for picnics, sunbaths, and photoshoots Accessible, close to bus stops and train stations
This park is perfect for running, picnics, and even date nights. It’s such a lovely place that I would love to live nearby.
