What people say
Stargazer Lawn feels like a pocket of calm with front row harbour views. Walk up from the foreshore paths and the city peels away behind you, replaced by soft grass, native plantings and those honey coloured sandstone steps that warm up in the afternoon sun. It is an easy place to linger. People picnic on rugs, kids roll down the gentle slope, and photographers wait near the edge to catch ferries sliding under the Harbour Bridge. Late light is the magic hour here. The skyline glows, the stone deepens in colour and you can hear the water carry sounds from across the bay. What I like most is how flexible the space is. Come early with a coffee and there is room to stretch out quietly with a book. Show up with friends and a hamper and you will still find a flat patch of lawn to claim without feeling crammed in. The landscaping gives you little pockets to tuck into, and there is enough elevation that even seated you keep that long, open view. On event days it feels festive rather than chaotic, and when The Cutaway is open below it is fun to duck down for a quick wander before returning to the grass. A few tips make the visit smoother. Shade moves around and can be scarce at midday, so bring a hat, water and a picnic blanket. Toilets and taps are nearby within the reserve, and bins are placed along the paths. Step free routes from Wynyard Walk and the Barangaroo wharf keep access easy for prams and wheelchairs, with stair runs if you prefer the quicker climb. Arrive an hour before sunset, pick a spot facing the bridge, and let the harbour put on the show while the city hums just out of reach.

Truly Beautiful Place. Ideal for day trips, picnics, stargazing and any other outdoor activity. On the northern side of the reserve you can see the Harbour Bridge and Luna park. On the southern side, the Crown Casino and to the west surrounding Sydney. Must visit place.
