Buttered Bakery & Cafe is such a gem in Sydney✨ A super cute Korean-style bakery with so many beautiful and delicious breads and pastries. Everything looks amazing and tastes even better and staff are friendly. Highly recommend coming early because the popular items sell out fast!
The flavors here are awesome, especially the garlic cream cheese. It wasn’t too sweet (Korean-ified savory flavors often lean weirdly sweet), but it was perfectly balanced with a strong garlic flavor. I stopped here before my flight back to the US, and I’m happy to report that the non-cream salt breads all kept quite well and were delicious after reheating in the toaster oven! I think the tissue bread is not that special; it literally just tastes like a croissant but it’s a lot more expensive than one. But the salt breads were great.
It was a nice spot with friendly service and a cosy vibe. Their specialty salt bread was enjoyable, though it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. Still a pleasant visit overall, especially if you’re curious to try their signature bake.
We absolutely love Buttered. The coffee is consistently amazing and their drinks are so refreshing. The pastries are on a different level, especially the croissants. We live in Avalon Beach 2107 and still drive all the way down every weekend just to enjoy them. I even took home a box with all the different croissant varieties and every single one was surprisingly delicious. The service is always friendly and the atmosphere has a really cosy, welcoming feel. It would be even better if there were a few more tables, some extra seating, and maybe WiFi, but honestly that’s just a small wish. Nothing to complain about at all. We 100% recommend this place.
Finally got to try the viral Korean salt bread, and honestly, it was worth the wait! 🥐 Everything here is halal-friendly except for the savoury one with bacon, which is great to see. The salt bread completely surprised me soft, buttery, and perfectly balanced with that touch of salt. It paired so well with my coffee, I could easily have another one! I also tried their pistachio tissue bread, and it was amazing light, flaky, and packed with pistachio flavour without being overly sweet. Their matcha series deserves a special mention too; you can tell they really know how to get the flavours right. Overall, a lovely spot with delicious pastries and great coffee. Definitely recommend dropping by if you haven’t tried it yet!
